The 2023 Farmer’s Insurance Open Recap

San Diego, CA – Max Homa has won the 2023 Farmer’s Insurance Open.  This marks his 6th career victory and has catapulted him to second in the FedEx Cup points standings.  This win also makes him the second player to win two tournaments this season, accomplishing a feat only Jon Rahm has managed to accomplish this season.

The newly proclaimed “California King” certainly loves golf in the Golden State.  Out of his six PGA Tour wins, he’s earned four of them in California.  This most recent win today, was due to him going out and earning it with a stellar tournament total of 13-under par.

Starting the day, it was Sam Ryder’s tournament to lose, and unfortunately for him, he did.  While he’d held onto the lead since Thursday and was leading by two to begin the day, he ultimately was outplayed by Homa.  He would finish with a score of 9-under for the tournament.

Rahm looked to go for a second win in a row after a fabulous 6-under-par third round.  He didn’t play well enough in the final round though and wound up falling short, finishing tied for seventh.

Keegan Bradley who led the field in strokes gained putting for the week, made a charge in the final round.  He shot a 66 and finished in solo second.  The top five were rounded out by some other seriously good players including Colin Morikawa in third, as well as Sungjae Im and Sahith Theegala who both finished tied for fourth.

The next tournament on the docket is the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am where Tom Hoge won his first PGA Tour title last year.  While he’ll look to defend that title, he’ll have to contend with a number of other top pros looking to make their mark in the new year including the likes of Matt Fitzpatrick and Jordan Speith.
