2025 Bank of Utah Championship Recap

Michael Brennan Wins in Third Tour Start

Ivins, UT – Michael Brennan (-22) made the most of his sponsor’s exemption this week, winning the Bank of Utah Championship by five strokes.  It was the 23-year-old’s third ever start on Tour having only recently earned a three win battlefield promotion to the Korn Ferry Tour from the PGA Tour Americas.  Brennan carded rounds of 67-65-64-66 to beat Rico Hoey by four strokes.

All of a sudden, Brennan’s career has taken off in a big way with job security on the PGA Tour for the next two seasons.  Hoey continued his strong form to start the season.  The player known for his elite ball-striking recently switched to a broomstick putter and has started to convert more of his opportunities.  A win could certainly be on the cards.

Finishing behind Hoey T3 at -16 was a pack of six players: David Ford, Thorbjorn Olesen, Ben Silverman, Justin Lower, Pierceson Coody, and last year’s winner of this event, Matt McCarty.  Ford is one of the more newcomers to the Tour, having recently turned pro after a big time amateur career.

The field was full of young players looking to establish a foothold at the top of the game as well as seasoned veterans looking to stockpile points and build momentum for the season to come.  Other notable finishes included Max Homa, who continued to find his way back from the wilderness with a T9 finish at -15; Billy Horschel, who recently returned from a long injury layoff to finish T11 at -14; and Sahith Theegala, who showed signs of life after a season to forget, finishing T27 at -11.

Some of the bigger names in the field struggled though, with Maverick McNealy, Davis Thompson, and Alex Noren all missing the cut.

The PGA Tour next tees it up November 6-9 at the World Wide Technology Championship in Mexico.  Austin Eckroat is the defending champion there.
