2023 Shriners Children’s Open Recap

Las Vegas, Nevada – Tom Kim holds off the field and wins his third PGA Tour event and successfully defends his title at the 2023 Shriners Children’s Open.  Tom Kim is ranked number 16th in the world but this win may help vault him into the top 10.

This week’s event is part of the 2023-2024 fall schedule for the PGA Tour and is hosted by TPC Summerlin.  TPC is home to quite a few PGA pros such as Colin Morikawa and Xander Schauffele.  Neither of which played this week, however.

Those who did tee it up though had a feast on the course.  The scores were low and the birdies were plentiful.  No one knows this course better than last years winner, Tom Kim and it showed.  Others certainly put up a fight though.

Canadien born golfer Adam Hadwin finished one shot off the lead after 4 rounds in the 60s including a 3rd round 63.  However, a bogey on 16 in his final round could be seen as the nail in the coffins as even a birdie at 18 kept him out of a tie for first.

Second year PGA Tour player Eric Cole posted his best performance so far this year by carding a final round 63 that vaulted him into a tie for third finish.  The other three players who tied for third were Swedish golfer Alex Noren, Canadien Taylor Pendrith, and J.T. Poston.

The win at the 2023 Shriner Children’s Open is Tom Kim’s 12th professional win and 3rd PGA Tour victory.  Next week, the PGA Tour heads to Japan for the Zozo Championship.
