2026 Galway Bay Golf Apparel

50 Words or Less

The 2026 Galway Bay golf apparel collection offers top of the line waterproofing with stretchy and breathable fabrics.ย  A rain jacket that is so comfortable, I am happy to wear it as a second layer even if there is only a small chance of rain.

Introduction

Whenever there is rain in the forecast, I am left with the same dilemma: I prefer to walk and carry my clubs, but I also need to carry rain gear as rain can come at a moment’s notice.ย  Rain gear is heavy, and even when it keeps me dry, the material tends to get soaked through and become even heavier.ย  In the event that itโ€™s warm, rain gear isnโ€™t breathable enough, which means I stay dry from the rain, but I am soaked in my own sweat.

The 2026 Galway Bay rain gear is a godsend that feels like it was created to solve every problem associated with rain gear. For this review I tested the Clifden Golf Rain Jacket, the Nimmo Rain Vest, and the Ayle Pull-Up Rain pant.ย  The gear is extremely waterproof, so no rain will get in.ย  It is also light, stretchy, and breathable, so they can be worn in any temperature and can double as a nice second layer on dry days.

Style

The style of Galway Bay feels European and timeless.ย  They all have a sleek, modern design.ย  Their pieces come in a variety of colors, all solids.ย  I prefer this style to louder, more pronounced colors or patterns, especially when it is for rain gear.ย  With its high price tag, you wonโ€™t be wanting to replace anything for years, so it is best to have a classic style you wonโ€™t get tired of.ย

The pieces all have minimal branding.ย  The Clifden Golf Rain Jacket has Galway Bayโ€™s bird logo on the collar and no other branding.ย  If you arenโ€™t familiar with the logo, thereโ€™s no way to tell this is Galway Bay.ย  The Nimmo Rain Vest and Ayle Pull-Up Rain Pant both have the bird logo with the word โ€œGalwayโ€ next to it.ย  The only place youโ€™ll find the full name, โ€œGalway Bayโ€ is on the inside tag.ย  I like this choice, especially for a brand as premium as Galway Bay.ย  Itโ€™s as if they know the quality of the piece will speak for itself. Fit

Galway Bayโ€™s apparel is a tailored fit that is slightly smaller than I am used to for rain gear.ย  I am 6โ€™3โ€ and 185 pounds which makes most golf outerwear too wide in the torso and too short in the arms.ย  In the Clifden Golf Rain Jacket and Nimmo Rain Vest, a Large fit me perfectly.

Thereโ€™s enough room underneath for a quarter-zip or hoodie, but it’s not too baggy to interfere with the setup or motion of my swing.ย  The jacket and vest have hidden adjuster pulls inside each pocket that allow you to tighten up the sides for a perfect fit.ย  These allow you to really dial in the fit on the course.ย  You can have your preferred tightness around your ribcage while swinging.

The Ayle Pull-Up Rain Pant is the slimmest fitting rain pant I have ever worn.ย  This was my favorite part about the pants.ย  Most rain pants are incredibly baggy – I feel like I am walking around in pants three sizes too big.ย  These pants fit perfectly over my regular golf pants.ย  The knee is 9.5โ€ wide and the ankle opening is 7.5.โ€ ย  The material is stretchy enough, which makes the pants very comfortable as a second layer.ย

There are no pockets, but there are zipper pulls where the pockets normally would be.ย  This makes it possible to access your pant pockets, and you don’t have to transfer all your tees, ball marker, and divot tool to a new pocket.ย  The pants come in a wide variety of sizes, with long and regular options in every size.ย  I was able to order a medium-long, which fit perfectly.ย  In previous rain gear I would need to order a large for the length, but then the pants would always feel too baggy.

Performance

The three pieces are all made with Eyre Pro, โ€œGalway’s flagship 3-layer waterproof performance fabric engineered for golfers who play through extreme conditions.โ€ย  This fabric is extremely light, breathable, and stretchy.ย  Typically rain jackets are quite restrictive when swinging, but I barely noticed the Clifden Golf Rain Jacket was even there.ย

The jacket is so comfortable it is going to be my new go-to second layer any time there is rain in the forecast.ย  It was just as easy to swing in the jacket as it is to swing in my favorite golf hoodie.ย  When in doubt, I will be going with the Clifden Golf Rain Jacket every time.

The Eyre Pro fabric in the Clifden Golf Rain Jacket is rated 30K waterproof, and 30K breathable, both metrics that are associated with top of the line outdoor gear.ย  In the rain, the water beads on the fabric right away, and you can even brush off the beads of water by hand.ย  While these pieces have the benefits of being very comfortable, they do their number one job very well: keeping you dry.ย  The jacket has an adjuster at the back of the neck which can tighten the collar to keep out more water.

Ayle Pull-Up Rain Pants have a zipper that goes all the way up to knee height.ย  This made it possible to put the pants on while still wearing golf shoes.ย  I was initially worried their slim fit would make them too tough to put on while playing, but the zipper is long enough that it isnโ€™t an issue. Conclusion

The 2026 Galway Bay golf apparel comes with a very high price point.ย  The rain jacket is $549.ย  I was initially skeptical that any rain gear could live up to this price point.ย  After testing, the combination of waterproofing with comfort while swinging make this a very interesting option as it can also double as a great second layer on dry days.ย  The pants and vest are extremely comfortable while also offering top of the line waterproof rating.
