The 2025 Texas Children’s Houston Open Recap

Houston, TX – Min Woo Lee has won the 2025 Texas Children’s Houston Open, with a score of 20-under par.  He earns the trophy, the FedEx Cup points, and a cool $1.71 million in prize money.  It also marks his first career PGA Tour victory.

While Lee played wonderfully on the final day, it was really his play on Friday and Saturday that set him up to secure his first win.  He carded his best rounds as a professional in the last two days with scores of 64 and 63.  Despite weighing less than 160lbs, he’s one of the longest drivers on tour and was putting his driver to good use.  He would end up winning by a single shot.

Collectively, Lee shot a score of 267, which is the lowest total in the history of the tournament.  It marks his first win in 56 Tour starts.  His win also makes him the 5th first-time winner this season, and the 10th player to have won an event in their first appearance there.

Heading into the final round of the tournament, Lee had a four-stroke lead over the world’s number-one-ranked player, Scottie Scheffler.  However, as the day progressed, Scheffler, as well as other major winners like Rory McIlroy, Wyndham Clark, and Gary Woodland would all charge up to give the 26-year-old a run for his money and title.  Scheffler and Woodland would end the closest, both finishing in a tie for second with a score of 19-under.  McIlroy and Clark would be just a bit behind them, finishing in a tie for 5th with scores of 15-under par.

The PGA’s Texas swing continues next week with the Valero Texas Open.  There, Akshay Bhatia will look to defend his title after winning the event last year.  He’ll have stiff competition, as some of the world’s best players like Hideki Matsuyama and Ludvig Åberg will be looking to get into a groove for The Masters, which takes place the week after.
