The 2024 Texas Children’s Houston Open Recap

Houston, TX – Stephan Jaeger has won the 2024 Texas Children’s Houston Open.  This marks his first PGA Tour win.  Along with the title, he also earned over $1.6 million, entries into The Masters and the PGA Championship, and he becomes fully exempt through the 2026 PGA Tour Season.

The 34-year-old German player was among the most winningest players on the Korn Ferry Tour with six titles but had yet to win a PGA Tour event.  Today though, in his 135th PGA Tour start,  Jaeger won with a score of 12-under par.  He wasn’t alone in his stellar play though.

The number one player in the world, Scottie Scheffler was in amazing form coming into this tournament.  After winning the last two events he started, he could have become the first player in seven years to win three straight PGA Tour events, had he won.  It wasn’t meant to be though.  Despite having a short putt to tie the lead on the final hole, Scheffler would miss and finish with a score of 11-under par and in a tie for second place.

It was a crowded leaderboard in the final holes of the final round of the Texas Children’s Houston Open, with nine players finishing within two shots of the lead.  Besides Scheffler, four other players were tied for second: Tony Finau, Thomas Detry, Taylor Moore, and Alejandro Tosti.

The Texas swing of tournaments continues next week with the Valero Texas Open.  There, Canadian player Corey Conners will look to defend the title he earned last year.  Conners will undoubtedly be happy to play because he won both of his PGA Tour titles at that same event.  Rory McIlroy, Jordan Speith, and Colin Morikawa are the top talents looking to keep him from a third win.
