The Srixon Z 785 driver has a traditional shape but very modern performance. Excellent adjustability.
Introduction
Over the last few years, Srixon has seen its star rise in the golf equipment world. Starting with a series of outstanding golf balls, they added a highly regarded line of irons and utility clubs. With their current release, they’ve set their sights on taking a bite out of the woods market. If players are willing to give it a try, the Z785 driver will help Srixon do just that.
Looks
The Srixon Z 785 driver is going to be a hit among better players. Its head is compact and symmetrical, exactly what traditionalists prefer. There is a nod to modernity with the carbon fiber crown, but it’s plain black near the ball for a distraction-free appearance.
I also want to give props to the headcover. I love the red leather. In the bag, it looks like a boxing glove waiting to deliver a haymaker to the ball.
Sound & Feel
If you need a driver that announces impact to everyone on the course, look elsewhere. The Srixon Z 785 prefers to let the results do the talking. Impact is quiet – a mid-pitch, slightly metallic tone.
What I found very interesting about the Z785 was the feel. There’s a lot of feedback – some hits feel very solid, others feel a bit hollow – but it took me a little time to figure out what feel corresponded to a good strike. To be clear, the feedback is very consistent, but shots low on the face feel much more solid than I expected.
Performance
Over the last few seasons, one of the trends I’ve highlighted is players irons becoming more forgiving. The Z 785 driver shows that the same is true with drivers. Even though this club has a beautiful shape, it has all the forgiveness that most players will need. Ball speed, spin, and launch stay fairly consistent even if your strike wanders around the face.
When struck well, the Z785 driver produces a strong trajectory, a medium-high launch with fairly low spin. Part of that low-spin equation is the stock shaft, a Hand Made Project X HZRDUS Black. This is a tip-stiff shaft that gave me the ability to shape shots both ways while maintaining consistent trajectory and distance.
One of the key differences between the Z 785 and Z 585 is the adjustability. Both drivers have a weight port for dialing in swing weight, but only the Z785 has the Quick Tune System. This hosel adjustments allows you to add or subtract 1 degree of loft and modify the lie angle by as much as 2 degrees up or down. The instruction manual provides excellent guidance on how to tune the driver.
Conclusion
The Z 785 driver is Srixon’s best offering yet, and it stands on equal footing with the biggest names. But you don’t have to take my word for it. Srixon is so sure that they’ve produced a winner that they’re offering a 60-day money back guarantee. If you’re in the market for a new driver, give this a shot. You’ve got nothing to lose.

You did not say much about the shafts for this driver. What is the lightest weight shaft available in a senior shaft?

The stock shaft is the HZRDUS Black 65. You would need to contact Srixon for a full listing of the light weight shafts available.

When you click the “customize club” link, it shows a list of other shafts available, and then you can change to a different shaft option.
There is only one shaft offering in a Senior flex. It is called the UST Mamiya Helium 4.
None of the other shafts offer a senior flex. Some do not even offer a Regular flex.

For me, the G400 is better because it’s more forgiving and more consistent. That said, the gap is not huge and the Z 785 is quite good.
