The 2025 BMW Championship Recap

Owings Mills, MD – Scottie Scheffler has won the 2025 BMW Championship.  That title also comes with a guaranteed spot in the Tour Championship next week and $3.6 million in earnings.  This event marks his 18th PGA Tour win and his 5th Tour win this year.

World number one Scheffler continues to play inspired golf.  With a long chip-in on the 71st hole, he closed the door over second-place finisher Robert MacIntyre with a score of 15-under par.  This win was also notable for Scheffler as one without his longtime caddy, Ted Scott, on the bag.  Scott had stepped away to deal with a reported “family matter,” but that didn’t stop Scheffler from continuing his dominant streak of play with a stand-in caddy, Michael Cromie.

With this win at Caves Valley Golf Club today, he has earned five wins in his last ten PGA Tour starts.  A final round of 67 marks his 17th consecutive round under par, illustrating consistency unlike anyone currently playing on tour.  Despite that fact, Scheffler did say in an interview after the round that his final round was “a grind.”  With each passing win, the comparisons to the greatest to ever play the game, like Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus, continue to be made.

Despite coming into the final round leading the field by five strokes, MacIntyre would ultimately fall short, shooting a final round of three-over 73 to finish in second place at 13-under par.  Maverick McNealy would finish in third place at 11-under, while Tommy Fleetwood and Sam Burns would round out the top five, both finishing in a tie for fourth at 10-under.

Next week is the biggest payday in golf, the Tour Championship, where the top 30 players in the FedEx Cup points standings will be competing for $10 million.  World number one Scheffler will be looking to win in back-to-back weeks.  If he succeeds, he will become the first to ever defend the Tour Championship title.  Undoubtedly, he will have the stiffest competition imaginable trying to keep him from achieving that feat.
