The 2024 World Wide Technology Championship Recap

Los Cabos, Mexico – Austin Eckroat has won the 2024 World Wide Technology Championship.  This marks his second win on the PGA Tour and second win this season following his win earlier this year at the Cognizant Classic.  Along with the title, this win will also earn him a sum of $1.296 million.

Eckroat went out and took his second title with a commanding performance on the final day.  While it had been a scoreable golf course all week, the lack of wind helped Eckroat explode on the final day of play.  He ended up carding a 9-under score of 63, truly separating himself through his play in the last round.

For those keeping count, that’s 11 birdies and two bogeys he carded on the day.  Together with other rounds of 68, 67, and 66 that marked an overall tournament score of 24-under.  Despite trailing the leaders by one stroke going into the final round, Eckroat was able to come from behind to win the tournament by a single stroke.  The leaders through three rounds, Justin Lower, Carson Young, and Nico Echavarria would go on to finish T2, T2, and T6 respectively.

Another notable, Max Greyserman, has been agonizingly close to winning several times on Tour as of late.  In fact, in his last five starts, he’s finished in second place three times.  Despite his great play, he’ll have to continue to wait for his first official PGA Tour win.  With a final score of 22-under, he would ultimately finish this week in fourth place.

Next week is the Butterfield Bermuda Championship in what will be the seventh out of eight Fall tournaments on the PGA Tour.  Last year, Camilo Villegas won the event.  That broke a nine-year winless streak for him on tour.  He’ll hope to defend his title, but social media stars Wesley and George Bryan (the Bryan Bros) will look to take the championship for their own.
