The 2024 Hero World Challenge Recap

Albany, Bahamas – In the final individual PGA Tour sanctioned event for the year, Scottie Scheffler has won the 2024 Hero World Challenge for the second consecutive season.  Scottie held off both Justin Thomas and Tom Kim to secure his 18th professional victory.

Hosted by Tiger Woods, the Hero World Challenge is in its 24th year and is a 20 man invite only event that showcases some warm golf when much of the country is under winter weather.  Although it is a limited field, the competition is still quite strong.  Justin Thomas seemed to have regained some form recently as he led the field in strokes gained off the tee and on approach.  Unfortunately for Justin, he had a few mishaps with the wedges around the greens which prevented him from getting closer to the leader.  Thomas also had a lost ball on his 72nd hole which cost him a solo second place finish.

Tom Kim had a solid week in the Bahamas.  He started slow with a 74 in round one but then went ballistic with a 62, 65, and final round 68.  Tom finished six shots off the lead but still in second place and just ahead of Justin Thomas.

Although tournament host Tiger Woods did not play this week, Scottie Scheffler made his best Tiger impression in 2024 by winning for the ninth time this year.  His rounds of 66, all provided him a comfortable lead and six shot win over the field in the Bahamas.

The next PGA Tour event is in Naples, Florida where the PGA and LPGA tours will team up to bring an end of year two person co-ed event.  Last year, Lydia Ko and Jason Day won the event.
