The 2025 RBC Heritage Recap

Hilton Head Island, SC – Justin Thomas has won the 2025 RBC Heritage.  Along with the tournament’s signature tartan jacket and trophy, he also walks away with $3.6 million in earnings.  This event marks his 16th PGA Tour career win.

On the final day of the RBC Heritage, it seemed like anyone could have won.  For much of the day, there were more than a dozen players who could have made a charge, with them all bunched close together in score.  However, after 72 holes, just two survived to go into a playoff: Thomas and Andrew Novak.

On the first playoff hole, they both hit drives in the fairway, and both hit the green, but only Thomas made the birdie putt.  The win was his first since the PGA Championship back in 2022, and was also marked by the presence of a new caddy, Joe Greiner.  Following an injury to his usual partner, Matt “Rev” Minister, before The Masters,  Thomas hired Greiner, Max Homa’s former longtime caddy.

Last season’s RBC Heritage winner, Scottie Scheffler, put in a valiant effort to finish in T8 with a score of 12-under par.  Tommy Fleetwood, who has yet to win his first PGA Tour event, finished in 7th with a score of 13-under par.  There was also a huge group all tied in third place at 14-under that included: Daniel Berger, Brian Harman, Maverick McNealy, and Mackenzie Hughes.

Next week, the players will be teaming up to play in the only event for duos on the PGA Tour, the Zurich Classic of New Orleans.  There, Rory McIlroy will pair with Shane Lowry to see if they can defend the title that they won there last year.  With McIlroy in top form following his Grand Slam achievement, he’s in top form and a true favorite to win.  Other top teams include the duos of Collin Morikawa/Kurt Kitayama, Billy Horschel/Tom Hoge, and the Fitzpatrick brothers, among others.
