Atlanta, GA – Tommy Fleetwood has won the 2025 Tour Championship and the FedEx Cup. This marks his first PGA Tour win. As one of the most important events of the year, it also comes with the largest prize money, a cool $10 million.
For years, Fleetwood has been one of the most talented professional golfers who has yet to win a PGA Tour event. As a matter of fact, in his 164 starts, he had secured 29 top-five finishes, which included six second-place finishes, two second-place finishes in major events, and even a silver medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Today, he was able to push aside the memories of the close calls and was able to close out the tournament with a score of 18-under par, winning by three shots over Patrick Cantlay and Russel Henley, who both finished in a tie for second place with scores of 15-under par. This makes Fleetwood the first player since Chad Campbell, all the way back in 2003, to earn his first PGA Tour win at the Tour Championship.
World number one Scottie Scheffler had what, for him, was a disappointing week. His putter wasn’t working to his exacting standards, and yet he would finish in a three-way tie for fourth place at 14-under par with the likes of Cameron Young and Corey Conners. While all those players would have loved to have won, they will still be walking away with millions of dollars in prize money.
The PGA Tour now takes a bit of a hiatus, where many of the world’s best players will be enjoying a well-deserved break. The next event on the docket is the Procore Championship in Napa, California, which begins on September 11th. Patton Kizzire will attempt to defend the title that he won there last year, but will be facing a challenging field. There, several Ryder Cup team members will be playing to stay fresh for the iconic event, including world number one Scottie Scheffler, Xander Schauffele, and others.
