Cobra Golf Introduces King F8 & F8+ Volition America Drivers In Special Edition, Patriotic-Themed Colorways
The King F8 and F8+ Volition drivers honor American patriotism while supporting military heroes through Folds of Honor
CARLSBAD, CA – Cobra Golf, a leader in golf club innovation and technology, today introduced two KING F8 Volition America drivers designed to honor our military heroes. The drivers are available in two patriotic themed colorways – Blue Camo and Desert Sand. An F8+ version of both colors is available through custom order. Through these drivers, via an ongoing relationship with COBRA PUMA GOLF and Volition America, consumers can help support the Folds of Honor Foundation.
Volition America is an organization built on a crusade to promote love of country, inspire people’s decisions and celebrate the power of choice. The Volition Golf Collection supports the Folds of Honor Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to providing educational scholarships to spouses and children of America’s fallen and disabled service-members.
The KING F8 & F8+ Volition drivers feature all the game-changing technology present in the regular F8 & F8+ driver but come equipped with upgraded shafts. The F8 version comes with the Fujikura Atmos Tour Spec Blue 60 shaft in stiff and regular flex, and the F8+ version comes with the Fujikura Atmos Tour Spec Black 60 in stiff and x-stiff. Both shaft options, along with Lamkin Ace Crossline Connect grips, are color matched to either the Blue Camo colorway or the Desert Sand.
Both Volition drivers feature COBRA’s first fully-machined driver face, which utilizes a unique multi-directional CNC milling pattern that delivers the highest level of precision for superior performance. Compared to traditional hand polished drivers, CNC precision milling allowed COBRA engineers to achieve precise face thickness and tighter tolerances resulting in improved bulge-and-roll curvatures with a face that is 3% thinner and 10% lighter for maximum ball speed across the face with distance and accuracy.
The Volition KING F8 and F8+ drivers boast COBRA CONNECT™ Powered by Arccos, the award winning connected golf system that helps players of all skill levels make smarter, data-driven decisions. Electronically embedded sensors in the grip automatically record the distance and accuracy of every shot so golfers can track their improvements round-to-round.
The KING F8 Volition driver features an oversized address profile that increases MOI and provides more distance, forgiveness and speed on off-center hits. An adjustable weight system offers two Center of Gravity (CG) settings: one in the back for a higher, towering ball flight and one in the heel to provide additional draw bias.
COBRA’s 360o Aero TechnologyTM incorporates an innovative system of aerodynamic trips strategically positioned around the perimeter of the face to improve drag reduction through the downswing for increased clubhead speed. COBRA engineers utilized a polymer material on the trips placed on the crown for better CG positioning and higher MOI. An ultralight, 5-ply Carbon Fiber crown saves discretionary weight to move the CG lower and deeper for higher trajectories and increased forgiveness. A lightweight 8-1-1- Titanium Body and Forged Face spares weight while the brands’ patented E9TM Technology, a variable thickness face designed with elliptical pattern Sweet Zone™, creates more hot spots farther away from the center of the face for more distance on heel and toe shots.
MyFly8® with Smart Pad® technology affords golfers the choice of 8 loft settings (9.0°, 9.5°, 9.5D°, 10.5°, 10.5D°, 11.5°, 11.5D° and 12°) to fine tune launch conditions and maximize distance while Smart Pad® maintains a square clubhead at address.
Designed with a more traditional clubhead shape and a lower loft range (8.0°, 8.5°, 8.5D°, 9.0°, 9.5D°, 10.0°, 10.5D° and 11°), the KING F8+ Volition Driver utilizes the same key technologies as the F8 driver – including a CNC Precision Milled E9TM face, 360° Aero Technology, a Carbon Fiber Crown and MyFly8 Technology. Featuring lower trajectories compared to the F8 driver, the F8+ driver is equipped with two CG settings, one in the front, for a lower, penetrating ball flight, and one in the back for a higher, towering ball flight with slightly more spin.

Oakley Campaign Explores the Lives and Minds of the Most Committed Athletes
One Obsession celebrates the hard work and sacrifice of professional and everyday athletes, pursing their sporting passion; One Obsession survey shows 40% of athletes would rather excel at their sport than at work
LAKE FOREST, CA – Oakley launched the next chapter of the ONE OBSESSION campaign, encouraging you to make room for your sporting-passions – be it sacrifices in your family-life, career or friendships.
In building the campaign, Oakley created the ONE OBSESSION athlete survey that examines the behaviors and lifestyles of “The Obsessed” – the committed everyday athletes who tirelessly pursue their sport – to find true insights into what drives them.
The brand movement invites athletes of all abilities to join Oakley’s global network of renowned ambassadors in celebrating the very real, not always glamorous, moments of pursuing your passion. It’s not just about winning and losing. It’s about the journey and the lengths you’ll go for your sport, and we want to celebrate all of it. IT’S OK, in the name of obsession.
The ONE OBSESSION survey looked into everything from daily routines to the biggest sacrifices – be it time, careers or relationships. It provides a window into the emotional connection we have with the sports we love to pursue.
Sacrifices in the Name of Sports
Practicing their sport is where they come alive. Most committed athletes believe their sport is more important than other key areas of their lives.
40% of employed athletes would rather excel at their sport than at their job, and 23% of employed athletes say their sport is more important than receiving awards or recognition at work.
It can impact their personal lives too; many committed athletes claim to have made significant sacrifices to train for their sport. Nearly half (47%) have sacrificed friendships, while one-third (34%) have let go of romantic relationships for their dedication.
Nearly all (88%) of committed athletes would even say farewell to the comforts of their daily lives too, if it meant sport could remain a top priority.
Nearly half (44%) of them over 21 would not drink a drop of alcohol for a month. One in five would sacrifice sex for one month (21%), and 21% of employed athletes would give up two weeks of vacation, if it allowed them unlimited time on the bike or out on the road!
A Day in the Life of The Committed
Maximizing time is everything for these athletes. Nearly two thirds (62%) wake up before 6am to ensure time for their sport, and over a quarter (27%) rise before 4am.
Runners and triathletes are the earliest risers, with 72% waking up before 6am, followed by cyclists (58%) and action sports athletes (57%).
Commitment and obsession constitute 365 days a year for these athletes. More than half (51%) have trained on their birthday, and 40% have played their sport on a major holiday, like Christmas or Thanksgiving. Fifteen percent have even broken a sweat on their wedding day.
“Early to bed, early to rise” is crucial, with committed athletes getting an average of seven hours of sleep each night. 40% go to bed before 10pm each night, and nearly a quarter (23%) actually get into bed before 9pm.
And vacations aren’t breaks from what they love, as 91% of committed athletes who vacation participate in their sport while they’re away, spending close to one quarter (22%) of their vacation time training, on average.
The Benefits of Obsession
Athletes recognize the positive benefits their sport brings to their lives. 42% percent say their sport provides balance in their life, and one third (33%) say they play their sport because it’s the best way to alleviate stress. In fact, 24% admit they’re able to sort through most of their personal issues when they’re training.
