Ridgeland, Mississippi – Now a two time PGA Tour winner, Luke List is the 2023 Sanderson Farms Champion. Luke outlasted a five man playoff as the sun set on Sunday to capture the title in the Fall event with a 50 foot birdie putt.
Coming down the stretch on Sunday, fellow PGA Tour player Ben Griffin held a one shot lead on his 72nd hole. His drive on 18 found some rough and forced his approach to go left. He couldn’t get up and down for par (and the win) with a 5 foot putt that grazed the edge of the cup. It was heartbreaking but Ben still had a shot in the playoff.
The playoff went back to the par-4 18th hole with all five players. This is the largest playoff on tour in over two years. The five in the playoff were List, Griffin, Scott Stallings, Henrik Norlander, and Ludvig Aberg. There was plenty of PGA Tour victories in this group and likely many more in the future. Either way, after everyone hit their drives and approach shots, each player had their turn on the green. It was started by Aberg who lagged it close but tapped in for par. Then it was Luke List who was the second furthest from the hole at 44 feet and drained his birdie putt! The other three couldn’t get anything close which secured the victory for List.
This is Luke List’s second PGA Tour win and will provide him with exemptions into many events he was not already in for the 2023-2024 season including the TOC and the Masters. Next week, the PGA Tour heads to the Shriner’s Childrens Open in Las Vegas at TPC Summerlin.
