Does working alongside the award-winning Wilson Labs innovation team to watch your idea come to life sound like a dream come true? If so, Wilson Golf wants to hear from you.
Wilson Golf announced today a call for entries as it launches a new television show called “Driver vs. Driver.” This show, scheduled to air on Golf Channel in Fall 2016, is being created to open the door for exciting, unique and fundamentally new, innovative concepts in golf driver equipment. What’s at stake? A $500,000 grand prize and a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to work with Wilson Golf’s Wilson Labs innovation team of engineers and designers as your idea becomes a Wilson Staff 2017 branded driver sold at golf shops around the country.
“Wilson Golf has a long history of innovation alongside some of the best golfers who have ever played the game,” said Tim Clarke, President of Wilson Golf. “As we push golf innovation into new territories, we recognize that new ideas, materials, design elements and concepts can come from the most unexpected places, industries and people. This new television show is designed to celebrate the entrepreneurial and inventive spirit that is so important to our brand and mine the country for driver ideas that the Wilson Labs team can turn into reality.”
For golfers, inventors, engineers, or anyone who has an idea or concept they believe could be the next big driver concept, Wilson Golf invites you to participate. To enter, individuals and/or teams need to submit a short video on their concept, why they think it can work as the next driver innovation, and a brief synopsis of who they are. Entries can be submitted at www.wilson.com/drivervsdriver. The deadline for entries is 11:59 PM CT, August 15, 2015. A comprehensive overview of show eligibility and requirements can also be found on the site. Top engineers and designers from Wilson Labs, as well as producers from Golf Channel, will evaluate all entries.
About “Driver vs. Driver”
“Driver vs. Driver” will follow the trials and tribulations faced by contestants as their ideas and concepts are evaluated and critiqued by an elite team while going through the grueling process to become a viable driver within the Wilson Golf line of products. A set number of contestant concepts will go through prototyping and vigorous testing within Wilson Labs and the individuals and/or teams will work alongside the Company’s engineers and designers to refine the concept until a winner is determined.
Through an elimination process, the final design concept will be revealed and the winning individual and/or team will receive $500,000 and the opportunity to have a driver they inspired sold at retail.
Nippon Shaft To Release Tour-Proven Steel Shafts For Sale To Public
N.S. Pro Modus3 Tour 105 and N.S. Pro Modus3 Tour 125
CARLSBAD, CA (July 10, 2015)- Nippon Shaft for the first time will bring to market two new types of steel shafts that tour pros already have used to win a combined 14 events on the PGA TOUR and the Japan Golf Tour.
On August 1, 2015, Nippon Shaft will release the N.S. PRO MODUS3 Tour 105 and N.S. PRO MODUS3 Tour 125 for sale to the public. The release of the two shafts is the outcome of four years of Nippon Shaft’s work with Tour professionals, who began interacting with company representatives when Nippon Shaft began traveling with the PGA TOUR on a regular basis in 2009.
“Nippon Shaft is proud to add two models to the tour-proven N.S. PRO MODUS3 series: the lightweight N.S. PRO MODUS3 Tour 105 and the traditional weight N.S. PRO MODUS3 Tour 125,” said Hiro Fukuda, sales and marketing for Nippon Shaft.
“It takes time and exhaustive testing to create products that meet the performance requirements of the world’s best players,” Fukuda said. “Listening to players’ feedback over the last 48 months, Nippon Shaft engineers developed ‘tour’ prototype shafts to suit the needs of tour professionals and these shafts have been further refined and engineered in response to their comments.”
The shafts will be available in the United States, United Kingdom and in Australia through Nippon Shaft’s network of authorized dealers.
Tour pros have been using – and winning with – the two shafts in prototype form both in competition and in testing environments, providing important input to Nippon Shaft engineers in the development phase, according to Fukuda.
Professional tour golfers play one of the four N.S. PRO MODUS3 Tour models because each delivers optimum control over three modes of ball flight – trajectory, distance and direction – by the optimum control over the three sections of a golf shaft. The Tour 105 and Tour 125 are designed with:
1. Tip Section: Mid rigidity increases launch conditions (mid/high trajectory)
2. Mid Section: Mid rigidity promotes control of (easy) launch and tour level spin
3. Butt Section: Mid rigidity promotes control and soft impact feel

Over the years, Nippon Shaft recorded hundreds of victories on professional golf tours worldwide, as the best players in the world increasingly chose to install in their irons, steel shafts manufactured in Japan to unparalleled quality standards.
Nippon Shaft products are available globally either as stock or custom shafts in many of the world’s top iron brands. In addition, Nippon Shaft products are available through Nippon Shaft’s dedicated global club fitter network. Details of these can be found at nipponshaft.com.
