FootJoy Fuel BOA Women Golf Shoe Review

50 Words or Less

The FootJoy Fuel BOA Women golf shoes combines stability and comfort and, with the micro- adjustability provided by the BOA Fit System, is easily customized to your foot. Modern, tech-forward look.

Introduction

The FootJoy Fuel BOA Women’s shoe carries on FootJoy’s tradition of performance and comfort.  The BOA Fit System, which FootJoy has been integrating into its golf shoes for a while now, uses laces and dials, rather than traditional lacing, to tighten and loosen the shoes and makes adjusting them to your foot a breeze.

Looks

The FootJoy Fuel BOA Women’s shoe showcases a welcome blend of traditional and athletic styles.  At a quick glance, the BOA Fit System can make these shoes look a bit like those slip ins we see everywhere. But as you’ll read in Performance, the System is not about getting these shoes on and off quickly but about getting just the right fit.

The BOA Fit System’s adjustment dials and thin laces give the FootJoy Fuel BOA shoes a distinctive, tech-forward look that should draw positive attention on the course.  I like the shading on the heel and sole areas of the one colorway offered, paired with smaller pops of brighter, bolder color on the sides and sole. The easily recognizable FJ logo clearly announces itself in a restrained way doesn’t overwhelm the overall look.

Comfort

Comfort is a known FootJoy quality, and it’s hard to dispute that the quick and easy adjustability of the BOA Fit System factors favorably into the comfort equation for these shoes.  And since that perfect degree of tightness you find at the beginning of day may not be so ideal as the day goes on, the BOA Fit System makes for quick and precise on-course adjustment.  I like the heel mounting of the dials for its ready access.

Of course there’s more to comfort than a snug fit.  Ample cushioning and a soft interior make the FootJoy Fuel BOA comfortable both with and without socks.  The toe box provides the structure that distinguishes this shoe with athletic looks from a mere athletic shoe.  The shoe’s light weight is a positive for a long day of wear.

The shoes were comfortable right out of the box — no breaking in needed.  Sizing was true — I consistently wear an 8 1/2 in every kind of shoe, and that size was an instant perfect fit.

I appreciated that the notched shape of the tongue prevented it from rubbing against the front of my ankle, no matter how much I flexed it. Great for uphill walking.

Performance

FootJoy Fuel BOA Women’s shoe felt stable and secure.  FootJoy credits its TPU PowerClip for enhanced support, and a high-density molded EVA FitBed for stability and comfort.   What that all meant to me was increased confidence to take that bold swing.  The BOA system’s micro-adjustability was ideal for getting that fit — and quickly adjusting it should conditions demand.  This was my first time using a BOA system, and the operation was intuitive.

The shoe is designed to be waterproof (one-year warranty on that) and durable – ideal for those of us that live in a moist climate and hope we can make our shoes last more than one season.  The smooth synthetic uppers were easy to clean post round.

Conclusion

The FootJoy Fuel BOA Women shoes expertly meld performance and comfort, with a sleek look. The BOA Fit System is easy to dial in and to re-adjust as conditions demand. If you haven’t checked out the BOA Fit System yet, the FootJoy Fuel BOA Women’s shoe might be your opportunity.
