Now in its fourth generation, it seems that every notable golfer has played a Diamana at one point in their career. And while many product lines can go stale in their fourth iteration, MCA has consistently added something new with each launch.
What’s the hook behind the new Diamana DF Series shafts? Blending the profiles of the original Blue Board and White Boards.
Looks
Diamana shafts can always be counted on to have a refined, eye-catching appearance. The DF series starts out as a gloss black near the grip with wraparound flower band and “Diamana” graphics. Just below the primary branding, the color shifts to a metallic silver for a clean look at address.
Feel
The key word in describing any Diamana shaft is always “smooth.” That’s been the theme from model to model and generation to generation. The new DF Series does not let that fall by the wayside.
What surprised me, having gamed the third generation W Series shaft, was how far down the shaft the action extends. From White Board to Ahina to W Series to DF Series, these are the low launching, tip stiff profiles for the aggressive swinger. While the tip is still very stable, there is action from the handle all the way through the middle of the shaft.
Performance
It never ceases to amaze me how much my past experience affects my ability to use certain equipment effectively. With a new brand or model of shaft, there’s usually a “getting to know you” period. With something familiar like a new Diamana, it’s often all systems go from the first swing. That was definitely the case with the DF Series.
As regular readers know, I perform best with stable, tip stiff shafts. However, I like the feel of a smooth, active shaft. The DF Series is among the leaders in terms of providing a lot of feel and while still having the requisite stability.
Both my launch monitor numbers and the ball flight I was seeing were great with the Diamana DF. The ball launched at the lower end of my normal window with a strong flight. Most importantly, there were no unexpected shot shapes. A bad swing would result in a hook or a big push, but every swing that felt good started fairly straight with minimal curve.
The MCA Diamana DF Series shafts are available in weights from 50 grams all the way up to 80 grams and flexes from Regular to TX. The two extreme flexes are more limited in terms of weight – Regular comes in 50 and 60 grams; TX is not available in 50.

My aim to make it my ball flight lower. If you may suggest which shaft will be better for me: hazardous green pvd 6.0 61 gram or diamana df seriies 60 stiff flex or perhaps diamana d limited 60

On paper, the HZRDUS will provide the lowest launch. In reality, you’ll only know by testing all three with a fitter.

Diamana shafts are always very smooth, so that can certainly give them a softer feeling than other X flex shafts.

I was wondering because I currently have a high towering ball flight with lots of spin that causes me to lose distance. I use an f8+ with a HZRDUS Smoke Yellow 70 X-Stiff shaft and was considering moving to a TX since I have a swing speed of 121. There are no fitters in my area though with TX shafts to test… do you have a recommendation or any sort of help?

How does the DF compare to the D+ Limited Edition? I have heard the D+ Limited Edition is just an OEM shaft for certain clubs. I’m looking at an X or TX version in both, and was wondering if you could explain any differences between the two.

The DF-50 R is what Minjee Lee, the US Open Champion uses in her driver.
What’s the difference between the D+ 62 x5ct stiff,
And the DF 50 Regular flex. I have used the stiff flex for years, but I am getting older, and wanted to try switching to a lighter shaft in regular flex, but had a hard time with the DF flex.
May I just say what a comfort to find someone who actually understands what they’re talking about over the internet. You certainly realize how to bring a problem to light and make it important.
