Silvis, IL – Brian Campbell has won the 2025 John Deere Classic. That marks both his second PGA Tour win this year and second career win. Along with the title, he also earned over $1.5 million in prize money.
It was a rainy, soggy, final round in southern Illinois that started as really anyone’s game. All day long there were numerous players all within a few shots of the lead, and with soft conditions from an inch of rain the night before, scores were all low. In the end, it culminated in a playoff between Brian Campbell and Emilliano Grillo who both finished at 18-under par for the tournament.
Both players had great experiences in past playoff situations, and with each one scoring the exact same scores on each of the four rounds, it felt like an even match. Grillo earned both of his previous two PGA Tour wins in playoff appearances and Campbell’s lone win came from a playoff victory earlier this year at the Mexico Open. After hitting his approach shot over the green, and a failed flop shot that failed to make the green on his third shot, Grillo would card a bogey. Meanwhile, Campbell hit the final green in regulation and comfortably two-putted for par, securing his win.
Crowd favorite and six-time tour winner Max Homa started the day just one shot back of the lead, but ended up coming just short. Despite being a genuine star of the tour, he hasn’t won in nearly 900 days. His last PGA win came all the way back at the 2023 Farmers Insurance Open. He would finish in a tie for fourth place with a score of 16-under.
Next week, the PGA Tour will move to North Berwick for the Genesis Scottish Open. It is a pivotal event for the year, with not only $9 million in prize money being split among those who make the cut, but it is also the final event to qualify for The Open. Scottish player, Robert MacIntyre, will be looking to defend the title he won at his national open last year. He will not have an easy road to a win, though. Ultimately, he’ll be facing stiff competition from many of professional golf’s best that will all be looking to tune up their games for the final major of the year, the following week. Other competitors will include former Scottish Open winners like Rory McIlroy and Xander Schauffele, as well as major winners like JJ Spaun and world number one, Scottie Scheffler.
