The Sun Mountain 4.5 LS Supercharged golf bag is built for the golfer who needs to be connected at all times. All the high quality features you expect from Sun Mountain. Ideal for the player who rides, pushes, and walks.
Introduction
Like it or not, more and more high tech devices are making their way onto the course. From shot trackers to rangefinders, speakers to smart phones, technology is becoming embedded in the game. Sun Mountain knows that many golfers can’t live without their tech, so they built a golf bag that keeps the tech alive: the 4.5 LS Supercharged. With a built-in USB port on top of Sun Mountain’s superior quality and features, this could be the ultimate modern golf bag.
Looks
Sun Mountain has found a winning aesthetic formula, and the 4.5 LS Supercharged does not deviate from it. They keep the branding moderate with Sun Mountain logos on each side, and they use an accent color to highlight the key features.
The Sun Mountain 4.5 LS Supercharged golf bag is available in two colorways: Black and Navy-White-Red. If you need more color in your life, the standard version of the 4.5 LS 14-way comes in eight colorways.
Features
It seems fitting to start with the namesake feature – the built-in battery. As you can see above, there’s a USB port on the outside of the bag so you can keep the tunes blasting, drone flying, or whatever else you want to do on the course. This port is powered by a Philips Power Bank that’s stored in a designated pocket (see below). If you want to get really supercharged, you can actually plug a second device straight into the battery pack. For those that love Sun Mountain but don’t need to the battery pack, the standard 4.5 LS is available for $50 less than the Supercharged version.
Moving on to the more standard features, the Sun Mountain 4.5 LS has six zippered pockets and three pouches. This includes a velour-lined valuables pocket, a full-length clothing pocket, and a hydration pouch. There is ample storage on three sides of the bag, giving you loads of options for carrying your gear.
Finally, I want to point out a couple of the smaller features that Sun Mountain includes that make using this bag more enjoyable. First, shown above, is the combination glove holder and accessory clip. Though I’m not a glove wearer, I can appreciate how this gives you a couple different ways to conveniently stash your glove while you putt. The clip also provides a place to attach a speaker, rangefinder case, or GPS, or a spot where you can hang your towel. There’s another clip just below the handle on the “back” of the bag. This is a great spot to store something that you want easy access to.
Performance
For the golfer with a little bit of OCD, you simply can’t beat the 14 full-length dividers of the Sun Mountain 4.5 LS. Each club has its own space, so it slides in and out effortlessly. The 14-way top means that your clubs stay perfectly organized throughout the round.
What I noticed first when I put my hands on the 4.5 LS is how sturdy the top handle is. Lots of bags have top handles now, but often they feel flimsy. On this bag, the handle is part of a larger structure that wraps around the entire top and connects to the leg mechanism. It feels rock solid, like it will last for years.
Speaking of the legs, they deploy easily with a gentle tip of the bag. Also, those who often ride or push will appreciate the superior leg restraints that Sun Mountain built into the 4.5 LS (above). I strongly prefer these elastic loops to Velcro because the Velcro can fail. Short of these elastic straps ripping – which would require serious abuse – this system will keep the legs locked in no matter what.
Lastly, one of Sun Mountain’s signature features is the E-Z Fit Dual Strap System. These backpack straps make carrying the 4.5 LS effortless, even if you make full use of all the storage. Each strap is well-padded and shaped to fit your shoulders naturally. Adding to the carrying comfort is the cushioning on the side of the bag, shown above. The padding is separated to allow air flow so that you don’t end up with a giant sweaty patch on your back after your long, post-drive walks.
Conclusion
Whether you opt for the Supercharged version or not, the Sun Mountain 4.5 LS is one of the best, most versatile golf bags you can find. It has all the storage capacity to please the hoarder who rides, but it’s slim enough to be carried, too. No matter how you move around the course, the organization of 14 full-length dividers can’t be beat.

Are the dividers big enough to handle a full set of clubs with XL grips ( without getting stuck /pushing the grip slot into its neighbors slot area.
I have seen several bags where if you test the dividers by just using one club with an XL grip it’s fine ( but once every slop is filled with clubs it gets tight & they can get stuck or it’s just not always easy to pull a club).
I walk/carry, occasionally pull a cart & sometimes ride. Is this bad light enough of you carry often?
Lastly, Will a sun mountain zero g waist strap attach to this bag?
Thanks
Bob,
I’m not sure about the Zero G strap.
With regard to XL grips, are you referring to Jumbo grips or something even larger like the JumboMax grips?
