Skechers GO GOLF Prestige SL Review

50 Words or Less

The Skechers GO GOLF Prestige SL spiked golf shoes blend retro style with modern day comfort.  The removable spikes provide stability that will last multiple seasons.

Introduction

A quick history lesson reveals that in the mid 1950’s, a popular style called saddle shoes became all the rage.  These shoes were typically two toned with one color for the “saddle” across the mid foot and another color for the rest of the shoe.  Men and women alike wore these for both formal occasions and more casual appointments because of its ability to pair well with any attire.  This ultimately became an iconic style for years after that and has even made a resurgence over the past decade, particularly in the golf shoe market.  In the modern day, Skechers has designed their own version of the saddle shoe: the Skechers GO GOLF Prestige SL.

Looks

The Skechers GO GOLF Prestige SL shoe steps outside the company’s normal style.  The mostly white leather upper is simplistic overall with a riveted, saddle design that boasts an old school vibe.  The sole is outlined with a brown liner and stitching to separate the top from the bottom.

The overall profile of the Prestige SL golf shoes is thinner than what I have historically seen from Skechers.  While this may seem like a small change, the lower profile should appeal to a wider age bracket, particularly the younger generations.  The small, metal “S” logo is subtle with no other branding on the shoe.  This aligns well with the sophisticated style of the Skechers GO GOLF Prestige SL.

Finally, along the bottom is an all TPU, riveted sole with seven removable spikes.  It isn’t overly tall which, again, adds to allure of the sleek vibe of the shoe.

The Skechers GO GOLF Prestige SL comes in white (as seen here), navy, black, and grey.

Comfort

The comfort part of this review is where the Skechers GO GOLF prestige SL shines.  These are impressively comfortable, and I simply forgot I was wearing new shoes halfway through my round.  While I would expect this from a company that emphasizes their padding and support technologies, I didn’t expect to enjoy wearing these so much.

I’ll start with interior of the shoe which has good arch support and cushioned side walls that provide comfort over a full day of golf.  The toe box provides enough room to not feel cramped but not so much that it feels like you’re going to move around with an aggressive swing.  I also had no issues with blisters or any unwanted rubbing because of the well padded heel tab and tongue.

Moving to the sole, each shoe is lined with what Skechers calls their Arch Fit Insole.  The insole is well padded with an appropriate amount of arch support and has a mildly rigid foam feel to them.  It is removable should you want to sport your own insoles..

Performance

The Skechers GO GOLF Prestige SL shoes flat out performed on the course.  The riveted sole and seven Pulsar PIN spikes helped with stability and feeling connected to the ground.  They resisted unwanted movement or sliding during more aggressive swings or when the ground was soggy or wet. Speaking of wet rounds, the all leather upper is entirely waterproof which, thankfully, I only tested once.

Weather aside, I took the Prestige SL’s on my most recent walking round, and I was impressed by how quickly I adjusted to them.  The lightweight ECOFLIGHT cushioning padded the bottom of the shoe and prevented that rigid feeling you sometimes get with spiked shoes.  Even towards the end of my round, I never felt any soreness you experience with a lot of other golf spikes, which I attribute mostly to the Arch Fit Insole.

My favorite part of these shoes, however, is its mix of retro style with modern comfort.  Even for someone in decent shape in their mid-30s, I want something that is not just comfortable but stylish.  I also don’t want to admit how much I like using the hands free Slip-In heel tabs.  Having both of these conveniences in a golf shoe is exactly what I never knew I needed.

I want to highlight the arch support again for a moment.  Skechers intentionally provides a removable Arch Fit Insole with each shoe.  While the included padded insole provides an above average amount of support, it can be easily removed for your own custom or preferred insoles.  If you’re someone that has particular needs when it comes to footwear or you just prefer the ability to customize your insole padding, the Prestige SL could be an ideal fit.

Each pair of Skechers GO GOLF Prestige SL shoes come in regular and extra wide sizes and are $150 a pair.  It also includes a one year waterproof warranty.

Conclusion

The Skechers GO GOLF Prestige SL combines a retro style with all the comfort and support features of a modern day shoe.  Easy to slip on and off, the Skechers seven spiked golf shoe is one of my favorites of 2025.

I have these shoes bought here in the uk. I agree with all your positives but have two reservations. I find it quite difficult to tighten the lacing in the lower holes and the soft padding around the heels were it shows is absolutely impossible to keep clean and goes grubby quickly. despite using warm water, liquid detergent and a toothbrush. Yes I am a tad obsessive ;-)

  2. Great review! Skechers is really putting out some really good golf shoes and these are not an exception!

  3. I am someone that prefers 4 spikes on the back to really lock down the heel, I am not sure why companies IMO, cheap out on putting a full complement of spikes in golf shoes.
