COBRA Golf® Introduces New DS-ADAPT Family Built With Groundbreaking FUTUREFIT33™ and Advanced Aerodynamics for the Fastest, Most Fittable Metalwoods to Date

CARLSBAD, CA – COBRA Golf, a leader in golf club innovation, today introduced its new family of DARKSPEED (DS) ADAPT drivers, fairways and hybrids. The DS-ADAPT drivers feature FUTUREFIT33™, EXTREME AERO SHAPING, ADAPTIVE WEIGHTING, and H.O.T. Face™ Technology, in four models – DS-ADAPT LS, DS-ADAPT X, DS-ADAPT MAX-K, and DS-ADAPT MAX-D.

The new DS-ADAPT driver family features COBRA’s new game changing FUTUREFIT33 ADJUSTABLE HOSEL SYSTEM, which is the most significant and innovative metalwood fitting technology to date. The system allows for 33 unique loft and lie settings that can be adjusted independently for the first time in a COBRA driver, unlocking an unprecedented number of fitting options. All 33 settings can be accessed quickly and easily on the spot, allowing fitters and golfers the opportunity to make desired adjustments in a studio, at home, or on the range. COBRA’s SMARTPAD® TECHNOLOGY, an innovative sole geometry design, ensures the clubface remains square at address regardless of the loft or lie setting.

All four of the new DS-ADAPT drivers also feature PROGRESSIVE AERO shaping to reduce drag and increase club and ball speed, and each model features discrete shaping to tune performance for specific player types. The DS-ADAPT LS is designed for faster swingers who require reduced spin rates and enhanced shot-shaping control. The LS model features the most advanced aero through its raised rear aft, highest crown peak, new heel aero shaping, and compact address profile (445cc). The DS-ADAPT X is designed to fit a wide range of handicaps and skill levels and features a traditional profile (460 cc) and balanced front/back weighting that delivers the ultimate combination of speed and forgiveness. The DS-ADAPT MAX-K is the newest addition to COBRA’s lineup and boasts an incredibly high 10K MOI, delivering extreme forgiveness and consistency. The MAX-K features a slight oversize profile (460cc), and the highest MOI of the four DS-ADAPT models. For golfers that want exceptional forgiveness and draw bias performance without sacrificing speed, the DS-ADAPT MAX-D fits the bill with a slightly oversize shape (460cc), and low, heel-biased CG for slice correcting performance.

To optimize performance for individual player types, each of the new DS-ADAPT drivers features an internal ADAPTIVE WEIGHTING system utilizing an advanced version of COBRA’s signature PWR-BRIDGE weight that is tailored for each loft and model. In the LS, the 9-degree clubhead features a redesigned, slightly curved PWR-BRIDGE weight positioned low and as forward as possible for low spin and maximum ball speed. The 10.5-degree LS features no PWR-BRIDGE and repositions the discretionary weight to move the CG slightly back for a bit more spin and higher launch, allowing for a more playable version of the low-spinning LS model. Similarly, the DS-ADAPT X 9-degree clubhead features a forward PWR-BRIDGE weight for reduced spin and speed, while the 10.5-degree features no PWR-BRIDGE, with discretionary weight moved to the back for added launch and forgiveness. The DS-ADAPT MAX-K features all discretionary weight in the back of the clubhead, maximizing forgiveness and consistency. The MAX-D models are designed with all discretionary weight in the heel for increased slice correction and exceptional stability.

In addition to the internal ADAPTIVE WEIGHTING system, the LS and X drivers also feature external, moveable weights that allow golfers to tune their driver to adjust forgiveness, launch angle, and spin. The LS model features three weight ports (two in the front and a third in the back) that house two 3g weights and one 10g weight. The 10g weight can be placed in the heel for a neutral flight, in the toe for fade-bias, or in the back to increase spin and forgiveness. The X model features a back weight and a second front weight position allowing players to adjust the CG location more forward for lower spin and more speed or more back to add launch, spin and forgiveness. The MAX-K model features a 10g fixed weight in the rear of the clubhead to create the highest MOI possible, while the MAX-D features a 10g fixed weight in the heel area of the clubhead to promote a draw bias.

All four new DS-ADAPT drivers feature a multi-material construction with lightweight carbon crown and sole and lightweight titanium frame for enhanced weight distribution and stability. A larger forged face insert with H.O.T. Face Technology delivers a higher CT around the center of the hitting area for more robust distance and ball speeds, particularly on off-center strikes.

The DS-ADAPT LS comes in RH/LH (*LH available in stock Denali Black 60 (S) with all other shafts custom) with a choice of three premium aftermarket shafts in select flexes including: True Temper Denali Black 60 (S); True Temper Denali Blue 60 (R and S), and Fujikura Pro Black 60 (S and X). DS-ADAPT Fairways and Hybrids

Complementing the innovative line of DS-ADAPT drivers is a full lineup of fairway metals featuring the same innovative technologies as the drivers, including FUTUREFIT33, ADAPTIVE WEIGHTING with updated PWR-BRIDGE technology, H.O.T. FACE, and CARBON FIBER CROWN. The new DS-ADAPT fairway metals are also available in three models (LS, X, and MAX) to fit the full spectrum of golfers. Details of the three new models:

  • DS-ADAPT LS Titanium Fairway ($429) – The new LS is designed to provide the lowest spin and fastest speed in the DS-ADAPT lineup. A titanium body is paired with a lightweight carbon fiber crown for significant weight savings to allow for 60g of tungsten (34g of internal tungsten and two 13g external weights) positioned low and forward to yield lower spin and the fastest ball speed of the 3 models. A larger and thinner titanium face insert is optimized with variable thickness H.O.T. Face Technology for improved launch and faster ball speeds on off-center strikes. The LS is built with the deepest face of the three new DS-ADAPT fairways and features FUTUREFIT33 Technology, providing 33 loft and lie combinations for maximized ball flight tuning for the perfect fit. Each fairway features SMARTPAD technology to keep the clubface square at address regardless of loft or lie settings. The LS is available in 3W (14.5 o), 3HF (16 o), and 5W (17.5 o) models and comes standard with True Temper Denali Black 60 shaft (X, S) and Lamkin Crossline grip.
  • DS-ADAPT X Fairway ($329) – The DS-ADAPT X provides the best combination of fast speed and forgiveness of the three new fairway models. The X model utilizes a mid to forward positioned PWR-BRIDGE to reduce spin while also allowing for enhanced playability and high launch. The shape of the X model is slightly shallower than the LS to promote higher launch and slightly more spin and is available in 3W (15.0 o), 3HF (16.5 o), 5W (18 o), and 7W (21 o), with the choice of True Temper Denali Red 50 (A flex) or True Temper Denali Blue 60 shafts (R and S flex).

COBRA Golf® Introduces New DS-ADAPT Irons for Max Distance and Forgiveness

CARLSBAD, CA – COBRA Golf, a leader in golf club innovation, today introduced the new DS-ADAPT Irons, designed to provide the ultimate combination of speed, distance, and forgiveness. The new irons are available in three models: standard, MAX, and MAX women’s versions, each of which feature a new 360 SPEEDSHELL design, COBRA’s H.O.T. face (Highly Optimized Topology) technology, updated PWR-BRIDGE weighting, and internal FOAM MICROSPHERES for improved sound and feel.

The DS-ADAPT and DS-ADAPT MAX irons are each designed with game-improving constructions and technologies to improve performance for golfers ranging from mid to high-handicaps. The two models feature tailored shapes and loft configurations to expand fitting options and provide a better ability to dial in launch windows for golfers of varying abilities. Both models feature the same core technologies that include a hollow body construction for increased speed and launch through improved flexibility of the body and face. The hollow cavity is filled with soft and lightweight foam microspheres to create an appealing sound and feel, even on off-center strikes. In addition, the weight savings gained from the hollow construction is repositioned in the PWR-BRIDGE weighting system, lowering the CG to create the perfect blend of distance and high launch.

To further increase distance, the hollow body design of the DS-ADAPT irons is paired with a new 360 SPEEDSHELL face, COBRA’s largest face cup design to date. The expanded insert now extends across the entire toe and sole area of the clubface and features an extended internal Speed Channel for improved face flex. When combined with COBRA’s proprietary H.O.T. face (Highly Optimized Topology) technology, testing results showed a 23% increase in face flex at impact to produce more speed, higher launch, and more distance.

Each iron in the DS-ADAPT iron set is designed with unique constructions and technologies tailored for specific shot-making requirements in mind. COBRA’s progressive TECFLOTM construction utilizes distinct designs in the long irons, mid irons and short irons to optimize gapping and performance through the set. Accordingly, the 4-7 irons feature a hollow construction with foam microspheres and 360 SPEEDSHELL face to maximize speed and distance on longer approach shots, while the 8-PW feature a hollow construction with foam microspheres for distance with enhanced precision. The wedges in the set are also hollow but contain no foam or SPEEDSHELL face to deliver traditional wedge performance and improved versatility around the green. The result is easier-to-hit mid- and long irons and more controllable shorter irons and wedges.

The new DS-ADAPT MAX irons are new to COBRA’s game-improvement iron lineup and offer a more forgiving option tailored to higher handicap players. Featuring the same innovative technologies as the standard model, the DS-ADAPT MAX irons are equipped with a slightly more oversized, high MOI shape (longer blade, thicker topline, and more offset) while maintaining an appealing address profile. The MAX model is designed with 2-degree weaker lofts and a wider sole than the standard model to promote effortless launch for players with moderate swing speed looking to maximize carry distance and stopping power. The additional offset featured in the MAX iron also helps promote a straighter ball flight for players who struggle with a slice. When tested against the standard DS-ADAPT irons, the MAX model produced approximately 1.6° higher launch, 550 rpm more spin, 2.4 yards higher peak trajectory, 2° steeper descent angles, and 8 more yards of draw bias.

Both the DS-ADAPT and DS-ADAPT MAX irons ($999 steel, $1099 graphite) are available in a 4-SW and 5-GW iron set comps with the choice of KBS Tour Lite steel shafts (S, R) or KBS PGI graphite shafts (S, R, A). Graphite combo sets are also available in the standard and MAX models in a 5-GW set (5H, 6-GW). The new DS-ADAPT MAX Irons are also available in a lightweight Women’s model $1099 graphite combo set) featuring the same ultra-game improvement technologies as the men’s MAX but paired with a lightweight, women’s flex aftermarket KBS PGI graphite shaft to promote easy launch and increased speed for longer carry and total distance. The DS-ADAPT MAX women’s irons are available in a graphite combo set (5H, 6H, 7-PW, SW in RH) with a KBS PGI 55 graphite shaft (L) for $1099.

The DS-ADAPT family of products will be available for fitting and pre-sale on December 12th, 2024, and will be available at retail and online on January 10th, 2025.

Ball Marker That Made Headlines on TOUR Now Available

MISSOULA, MT – The ball marker that made headlines at the Valspar Championship is now available just in time for the holidays. Witch Way, designed by proven golf innovator Rick Reimers, is a new, rotating ball marker on a spike with a line on top to achieve perfect aim on the green. Witch Way can shave strokes off your score and boost your putting confidence. Witch Way is USGA conforming and available for $9.99 as a single and $29.99 in a five-pack with a handy carry case.

A hint of the value of Witch Way was seen when Kevin Streelman put a prototype into play at the Valspar Championship and had 10 consecutive one-putts on his way to a 7-under 64. Afterwards, Streelman said, “It’s not rocket science, but it makes sense. You try and get the lines down close to where you want to roll it, and then you use the line to try and match ‘em up.”

What was then a prototype is now available to the public as either a single ball marker or in a handy five-pack.

Witch Way is a precise, rotating ball marker on a spike with a line on top to achieve perfect aiming of the line on your ball. It also has a notch which shows marker movement using a blade of grass as a reference.

Witch Way inventor Rick Reimers explained, “If you want to aim something accurately, you need to be able to see what you are aiming and the target at the same time. One degree error at 10 feet is 2 inches. One degree of adjustment of your marker might be only one half of one blade of grass!”

To use Witch Way: when initially marking your ball, get the line on the ball marker close to your putting line. Pick your ball up, stand behind it a few feet, look at where the line is pointing relative to the hole, seeing the marker and the hole at the same time. Then make the precision adjustment required. Lastly, match the ball line with the marker line. Use of this product during a round is permissible under rule 4.3a of the Rules of Golf.

Reimers continued, “Using Witch Way is far more accurate than conventional putting, where you can see the hole or your putter, but not both at once, and aiming with Witch Way can be done quickly, mostly before it is your turn to putt!”

Reimers is an experienced inventor, being the founder of Sun Mountain Sports, inventor of the golf bag with automatic legs, the three-wheel push cart, the golf bag with a handle in the top and recipient of many other patents for golf products. After selling Sun Mountain Sports, Reimers retained the habit of designing every day, working on ways of speeding up play with the Finn Cycle and soon to be released Hoote (TM) scooter.
