KBS Has Strong Finish At PGA Championship And Sees Record Count On Tour

Second place finish at the PGA comes close to major sweep in 2013 for KBS
BOULDER, Colo. (August 13th, 2013). KBS continued its terrific performance in majors this season with a 2nd place finish, T5th finish, and T8th finish at the PGA Championship. Going into the year’s final major, KBS was looking for the major sweep after already winning The Masters, The U.S. Open, and The Open Championship in 2013.

KBS had six additional players due to their qualifying at the PGA Professional National Championship earlier this summer. KBS is proud to have won this prestigious PGA tournament three years in a row, all with different players. In total, 23 players trusted KBS shafts at the PGA Championship.

Also this past weekend, the Tour’s Price Cutter Championship saw an increased number of players in KBS shafts. 40 players trusted KBS shafts which is a record for the five year old brand. One player in particular had a terrific finish. After switching into KBS last week, he had his best performance in three years. This player switched into the KBS Tour-V shaft, a prototype shafts for tour professionals, and finished T7th.

“KBS has gained the attention of the best players in the world. This is proven with our terrific performance in the four majors this season. Winning three and getting 2nd place in the last major is truly incredible for such a new brand in golf. We congratulate our players for their continued high performance in the toughest tournaments.” said Kim Braly, Director of R&D and Tour Operations at KBS.

Jason Dufner Wins The 95th PGA Championship Using A SuperStroke Slim 3.0

After shooting a course record 7-under-par 63 in Friday’s second round, Jason Dufner came out on top to win the 95th PGA Championship, his first major championship victory. Dufner, a 3-time PGA Tour winner, calmly rolled in putt-after-putt using his SuperStroke Slim 3.0.

“To win here at Oak Hill Country Club, PGA Championship, it’s great,” Dufner said. “You know, puts me in a great position for the Playoffs coming up in a couple weeks.”

With this victory, Jason moved from 62nd to 14th in the FedEx Cup standings and inside the top-10 in President Cup points, almost assuring himself a spot on the 12-man roster. The President Cup rankings deadline is 3 weeks away. The top-10 in the standings receive automatic bids with two captain’s picks being selected a few days after.

The runner-up in Rochester also used a SuperStroke putter grip, the Mid Slim 2.0. This player switched to SuperStroke technology this week, finishing the tournament at 8-under par. This second place finish is his best so far in 2013.

Quick Stat: Dufner’s 10-under 270 was four shots better than the lowest score at Oak Hill in the past 5 majors held there.

U.S Amateur Champion Steven Fox And His Rife 2-Bar Putter Continue Their Winning Ways

Sanford, FL – Steven Fox, the reigning U.S. Amateur Champion, continued his winning ways by capturing victory at the 98th Tennessee State Amateur Championship held at the Chattanooga Golf and Country Club in Chattanooga, Tenn.

Fox’s 10-under-par total of 270, which included rounds of 68-67-68-67, gave him a five-stroke victory over his closest competitors: two-time state amateur champion Tim Jackson and Keith Mitchell. Those two tied for second with a 5-under total of 275.

Fox and his RIFE 2-Bar putter are currently in Brookline, Mass. defending his U.S. Amateur title. “This past year has been crazy,” said Fox, “it has taught me perseverance and I wouldn’t change a thing.”

Following his defense of the U.S. Amateur title, Fox said he plans to turn professional.
