Greensboro, North Carolina – Wake Forest product Michael Brennan wins by three at the 2026 Wyndham Championship. Brennan is now a two time PGA Tour winner after winning the 2025 Bank of Utah Championship last October.
The Wyndham Championship, which is traditionally held at Sedgefield Country Club, is the last chance for players to get into the top 70 and qualify for the FedEx Cup playoffs. Players like Scottie Scheffler, Matt Fitzpatrick, and Wyndham Clark all fall inside the top ten and do not have to play to keep their playoff status.
Others aren’t so fortunate, needing solid finishes to continue their season. 2025 Ryder Cup Captain Keegan Bradley is one such example. Keegan needed a decent finish to get into the top 70, but his six under finish was only good for a tie for 49th place at the Wyndham and thus cementing his place outside the top 70 cut line for the playoffs. Jason Day also needed a top finish to lock up his spot in the FedEx Cup but his two over par rounds forced a rare missed cut at the Wyndham Championship. This dropped Day seven spots and out of the playoff picture. Texas Longhorn product Beau Hossler needed a win to get into the top 70 and he actually came extremely close, finishing in solo second and just three shots back of the winner Michael Brennan.
FedEx Cup Playoffs aside, the tournament itself had plenty of excitement coming down the stretch. PGA Tour rookie member Ben James posted a career best final round of nine under 61 to vault himself into a solo third place finish. Hideki Matsuyama and Alex Noren both finished at 14 under, good for top 10 finishes, while Florida Gator product Billy Horschel ended his weekend with a 66, good for a tie for 12th.
This week was all about the Demon Deacon Michael Brennan. He posted rounds of 66, 65, and 63 before getting into the final group on Sunday. On Sunday, Brennan polished off his stellar round with a birdie on 18 to cap off a six under 64. This is Michael’s fifth professional win since turning pro in 2024. Next week, Michael will be playing in his first FedEx Cup playoffs, which begins next week at the FedEx St. Jude Championship at TPC Southwind in Memphis, Tennessee where Justin Rose is the defending champion.
