ProQuip Reveals 2014 European Ryder Cup Team Rain Suit

(Marblehead, Ma. – September 23, 2014) PROQUIP GOLF, the Preferred Supplier of weatherwear to The 2014 European Ryder Cup Team, today revealed the official rain suit for Paul McGinley’s European Team and details of the Irishman’s 18-month hands-on involvement in its design.

When the first ball is struck in the 40th Ryder Cup at Gleneagles’ PGA Centenary Course on Friday, Team Europe can have total confidence that it is equipped to perform in any weather that might blow in over the Perthshire golf resort.

McGinley chose Scottish company ProQuip Golf – 20 times a preferred supplier to Ryder Cup Teams (European and American) – to design bespoke rain suits and wind tops for his team, caddies and their supporters.

Russell Brooks, general manager of ProQuip Golf, said: “We first sat down with Paul McGinley in March 2013 to start planning the European Team weatherwear.

At every stage Paul displayed an exacting attention to detail and drew upon his vast expertise of how to play golf in all weather conditions. Together we have created outerwear that could prove a 13th man for Team Europe if bad weather hits this week.”

Appearance – Bold white and blue panel cut design with gold accent trim, in a choice of full zip jacket and half sleeve playing top. Waterproof trousers in classic European Royal blue

Technology & Performance – DX5 Fabric selected for its enhanced “instant breathability” properties and added warmth, designed to eliminate any feeling of dampness or chill from early morning or late evening dew and mist, conditions common in late September in the United Kingdom.

Environment – Waterproof bonded fleece lined pockets for warmth and comfort. DX5 Fabric is thicker and warmer than standard without sacrificing ultra-lightweight and super-soft feel pioneered by ProQuip.

Player Comfort – Ryder Cup Team Europe logo positioned on the right jacket sleeve and right trouser leg to avoid any interference with player eye-line when addressing the ball. Extra-long trouser leg zips, specifically requested by Captain Paul McGinley, to make it easier and quicker to pull the trousers on and off. Each player’s suit is tailored bespoke for each individual player’s body shape, including a number of athletic slim-fit cut suits and classic suits.

ProQuip Golf weatherwear will also be worn by marshals, volunteers and staff from The European Tour and Ryder Cup Travel Services. ProQuip Golf has supplied more than 11,000 pieces of clothing to Ryder Cup Europe.

Richard Head, chief fabric technician at ProQuip Golf, said: “The 2014 European Team Ryder Cup suit is, without doubt, the finest rain suit that ProQuip has ever made.

Every time we have been chosen to supply a Ryder Cup Team it drives us to push the boundaries of product innovation and performance and create the perfect blend of playability, comfort and protection against the elements.”

ProQuip plans to introduce elements of the design and fabric composition from The 2014 European Ryder Cup Team suit into its 2015 Collection.

Chase54 Dolph Outerwear Performs On Course And In Life

CHASE54 has introduced a new outerwear piece on-trend for the season and beyond. The apparel brand with more than 30 years of manufacturing experience is highly regarded for signature performance fabrications, expanding into its outerwear category.

“At CHASE54 we are constantly innovating,” says Creative Director Lulu Faddis. “We want players and pros to understand our technology expertise is not only applicable to a polo shirt, but expands into categories that transition seamlessly into everyday life,” she adds. “This piece is unique in that it integrates our DryFuze™ technology, that is traditionally a key quality for lightweight shirts. (DryFuze™ is CHASE54’s patented moisture-wicking fabric keeping players cool and dry, enjoying freedom of movement on every shot). “It’s critical to have the same ultra-performance in an outerwear piece to give a natural stretch to help players’ swing, even in tough climate conditions,” she adds. “I’m sure the Ryder Cup Teams would appreciate a piece like this right about now,” Faddis says.

The Dolph Quarter-Zip Pullover is a versatile technical garment that is worn in many climates and applications, as experienced by National Sales Manager Doug Risher. Risher has worn the Dolph with a dress shirt and tie for a business-casual indoor look. “It’s a perfect piece for cool mornings outdoors and is very non-restrictive,” he says. The Dolph can be worn at full length or cinched with the bottom drawstring to transform the length and look, which makes it a go-to piece for Risher.

This pullover is an example of how CHASE54 goes beyond with modern styling and intricate fabric development. The industry and pros are becoming accustomed to this evolved story from CHASE54. “I love my Dolph Outerwear piece. It gives me the ability to swing the golf club freely, while protecting me from the wind, cold and rain,” says Jason Millard, PGA Tour Pro and CHASE54 Ambassador.
