2155831Inaugural ‘Dos Equis Rip, Pitch & Roll’ Coming To Boyne Mountain Resort

August 19 event is adult version of popular ‘Drive, Chip & Putt’ junior skills championship and complemented by outdoor happy hour, music and more

(PETOSKEY, Mich.) – BOYNE Golf – home to 10 premier courses spanning three resorts in the heart of “America’s Summer Golf Capital” – announces the inaugural “Dos Equis Rip, Pitch & Roll” (RPR) golf skills challenge will take place at the Boyne Mountain Driving Range on Friday, August 19 from 4:30 to 8 p.m.

Open to participants 21 and older, RPR’s format is similar to the popular national “Drive, Chip & Putt” junior competition that annually culminates in a visit to Augusta National for finalists. RPR entrants will compete in three separate disciplines:

• Rip – Participants will hit three drives and receive points for each one that lands in the prescribed driving area

• Pitch – Participants will hit three pitches from three predetermined locations (20-60 yards) and receive points based on proximity to hole

• Roll – Participants will hit three putts from three predetermined areas (short, medium and long) and receive points based on proximity to hole

RPR features Professional and Amateur divisions. Professional competitors are split into men’s and women’s groups and will play for a to-be-announced cash purse, while amateurs compete in four flights (Men 49 and younger; Men 50 and over; Women 49 and under; Women 50 and older) for prizes.

The event will take place amid a festive environment featuring an outdoor Happy Hour on the Boyne Mountain Driving Range. Players can enjoy Dos Equis beers, live music throughout the evening, and receive prizes for best golf outfit / costume as well as several additional non-golf contests.

“Rip, Pitch & Roll is yet another example of our team’s mission to make golf as entertaining as possible,” says Bernie Friedrich, Boyne Resorts’ senior vice president of golf and resort sales. “It’s a great opportunity to socialize and enjoy a beautiful late summer evening while testing your skills in a fun, familiar format.”

Entry fees are $30 for the Professional division, $20 for Amateur, with a portion of proceeds benefiting local charities. Each participant also receives one drink ticket, an event gift and entry into drawings for prizes such as BOYNE Gift Cards.
