Bridgestone Golf Signs Multi-year Endorsement Deal with Lexi Thompson
LPGA Tour Star to Exclusively Play Company’s Golf Balls in Competition
COVINGTON, GA – Bridgestone Golf, innovator of premium golf balls, clubs and accessories, has signed LPGA Tour superstar Lexi Thompson to a multi-year agreement to exclusively play and promote its high-performance golf balls.
The 22-year-old phenom is currently using Bridgestone’s TOUR B X ball, as it provided the ideal mix of distance, accuracy and feel. Thompson, who has captured eight LPGA Tour titles, one Major Championship and the 2017 Race to the CME Globe, had been playing the company’s B330-S for the past two seasons in a non-endorser capacity.
As part of the agreement, Thompson will be featured in marketing and promotional initiatives where her influence will be used to encourage golfers of all skill levels to play the best ball for their unique games.
“I’ve used Bridgestone for years and the new TOUR B product is shockingly good,” said Thompson. “It gives me tremendous distance off the tee without sacrificing any performance around the green. What’s more, I feel confident hitting any type of shot the situation calls for.”
“One of the most promising stars in professional golf, Lexi is an excellent addition to our large and growing stable of influential ambassadors,” says Angel Ilagan, Bridgestone Golf President and CEO. “We are seeing more-and-more world class players switching to our products because they provide superior performance over all competitors.”
The TOUR B Series includes four models – X, XS, RX and RXS and represents Bridgestone’s most technologically advanced golf balls to date. Using data from more than 3 million in-person and online ball fittings, combined with insights from leading third-party industry sources, Bridgestone identified the needs of specific player types and drew on more than 800 golf ball patents to determine which of its proprietary technologies would most benefit each.
Bridgestone’s professional staff includes 14-time major championship winner Tiger Woods, FedExCup champion Brandt Snedeker, Olympics bronze medalist Matt Kuchar, Masters winner Fred Couples, rising star Bryson DeChambeau and more.

Nippon Shaft to Introduce Lightest-ever Steel Shaft at PGA Show
“Play Steel for Life”
CARLSBAD, CA – The company that gave golfers the first high-quality sub-100-gram steel shaft today announced it will introduce a new 68-gram steel shaft, the lightest such shaft in the world.
The N.S.PRO Zelos 6 will be introduced at the PGA Merchandise Show, Jan. 24-26, at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando. The shafts may be tested between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 23, at the annual PGA Show Demo Day on Teeing Area No. 8 at the Orange County National Golf Center.
The super-light-weight Zelos 6 is aimed at golfers who have driver swing speeds in the 75 m.p.h. range and whose drives travel 175 yards or less, according to Fukuda.
Unlike similarly weighted graphite shafts, the Zelos 6 features a proprietary spring steel that gives the shaft the stability characteristic of steel, Fukuda said. The Zelos 6 also features ease of launch, high trajectory and excellent spin, which helps shots to hold the green.
In addition to the world’s lightest steel shaft, Nippon Shaft makes shafts twice as heavy for the world’s top touring professionals from the PGA TOUR and the European PGA Tour.
During the 2017 season, 195 players on the PGA and European tours played steel shafts manufactured by Nippon Shaft in their irons and/or wedges compared with 137 the season before, an increase of 58 players, according to company officials. In addition, Nippon Shaft added a traveling tour representative to the Web.com Tour, resulting in 42 players using the shafts on the U.S. developmental tour, up from just 10 a year earlier. The company now is the second-most used shaft brand worldwide in major tournament golf.

Operation Support Military Golf Partners with Industry Organizations
Non-Profit Raises Funds for “Reviving the Golf Courses that Revitalize Our Heroes”™
JACKSONVILLE, FL– Operation Support Military Golf (OSMG) – the non-profit organization whose mission is to enhance service members’ morale, welfare, and recreation by improving golf courses and associated facilities at bases worldwide – today announces that it has partnered with leading golf industry associations. The Golf Course Superintendents Association of America, American Society of Golf Course Architects and Golf Course Builders Association of America have pledged their proud support of OSMG.
OSMG was created to serve those who have, do and will serve our nation by ensuring their Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) is not forgotten. Positive MWR is an integral component in the well-being and quality of life of our service members and their families.
There are 145 military base golf facilities located in 40 states and 11 overseas countries. In many cases, overseas golf courses are service members’ only safe and cost-efficient means of outdoor recreation, relaxation from work stress, and separation from their families. Military golf courses are provided zero government funding to operate and overseas courses receive minimal funding. They are required to be entirely self-sufficient. OSMG was founded to help fill this “non-essential” items void.
As a groundbreaking, global, military supportive, 501(c)(3) non-profit, OSMG’s goal is to provide a $1 million infusion to each military golf facility. Helping increase accessibility for our wounded and aging veterans, reducing golf facilities maintenance costs through modernized equipment, and increasing overall visual enjoyment are just some of the specific benefits from the upgrades.
“Having these organizations unite for OSMG shows that they understand how important recreation and wellness programs are for service members’ morale in general, and specifically through golf, with its camaraderie, competition, exercise, and outdoor activity,” says OSMG Founder Jennifer Poth. “Many military base golf courses are falling into great disrepair due to longstanding budget constraints, and OSMG raises funds and in-kind donations for revitalization work that would not otherwise occur.”
Military courses are spread throughout Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine bases. OSMG strives to rotate through the services, one base at a time, to equitably support each. The first revitalization is underway at Naval Station Mayport in Jacksonville, Fla., the city where OSMG is based. To date, most support for the renovation has come from in-kind contributions including that of Arnold Palmer Design Company and MacCurrach Golf Construction, Inc.
