2016_Hero_PROSL_D_720x480_72_RGBFJ INTRODUCES NEW PRO/SL™  FOOTWEAR

Unique midsole/outsole construction has led to significant adoption on worldwide professional Tours

FootJoy, the #1 Shoe in Golf, is introducing a new performance spikeless shoe called Pro/SL™. Currently one of the most popular shoes on the worldwide professional Tours, Pro/SL combines a soft, comfortable, waterproof upper with a midsole/outsole unit that features three distinct layers for underfoot comfort, ultimate perimeter stability, and performance spikeless traction.

What gives the Pro/SL a unique blend of comfort and spikeless Tour-caliber performance is a proprietary polymer outsole material called Fine-Tuned Foam™ (FTF). FTF is 10% lighter than conventional EVA foams providing enhanced cushioning and shock absorption for added comfort.

FTF is the key material in a three-layered component that features unique characteristics and benefits within each layer:

  • The top layer of FTF, which cradles the foot, is a softer durometer to provide the golfer with all day comfort.
  • The lower/outer portion of FTF is firmer and delivers perimeter stability around the foot for maximum support throughout the swing.
  • Finally, TPU traction elements are strategically placed within the FTF outsole material to provide the golfer with enhanced traction, lateral stability and more points of contact with the ground.

These layers are fused together to deliver maximum comfort and create the most performance-driven spikeless midsole/outsole component offered from FootJoy.

“FTF is a material that took years to develop, and even longer to determine what shoe construction could truly unlock the benefits of the material,” said Doug Robinson, VP of Golf Footwear Worldwide. “This Pro/SL category utilizes two densities of FTF within the outsole construction and is married with an upper that features multi-material construction for a perfect balance of comfort and performance.”

Tour Player Adoption

Many players on Tour have chosen to wear Pro/SL. Adam Scott, Louis Oosthuizen, Kevin Na, Andrew “Beef” Johnston, Bernd Wiesberger, Lee Westwood, and around 50 other players on the PGA and European Tours have opted for the comfort and spikeless performance of Pro/SL.

“I tested Pro/SL initially in the very dry, hard conditions of Chambers Bay then in the soft, wet conditions at St. Andrews and the traction was fantastic on both surfaces,” said Adam Scott. “I also felt like my feet had more surface contact with the ground and for a longer time during my swing, so competing in this shoe is a no-brainer.”

Top Italian golf and leisure brand Chervò has turned to nature for inspiration for its new SS17 collection, using three of the solar system’s core elements to help create its latest eye-catching range.

Available at UK stockists from the end of this month, the contemporary range blends colourful textures with the luxury brand’s cutting-edge technology and is inspired by the three main solar system elements: sun, sea and earth.

The three natural components carry special significance for Chervò as they bear direct correlation with four of its market-leading technologies; SUN-BLOCK, AQUA-BLOCK, WIND-LOCK and DRY-MATIC.

Peter Erlacher, co-founder of Chervò ‘Spa, said: “It is no coincidence that sun, sea and earth are all connected with four of Chervò’s functional themes.

“Combining the shades and nuances of the colours of these elements with high- tech special functioning fabrics, Chervò’s clothing is designed to perform in the best way possible in the most demanding weather conditions, hence the company’s slogan: ‘ Wherever, whenever.'”

The SS17 collection was given a rapturous welcome by global distributors when it was given its worldwide debut at Chervò’s European headquarters in Verona, and its SUN-BLOCK, AQUA-BLOCK, WIND-LOCK and DRY-MATIC technologies all feature prominently in the new line.

Evenly split between men and women, the range offers a range of high-quality polos, trousers, gilets and performance jackets in an array of attractive shades, and has been created to provide wearers with maximum comfort, superior technical performance and unmistakable Italian elegance for use in all weather conditions – on the course in the clubhouse and beyond.

The latest polo and trousers designs incorporate the company’s renowned AQUA-BLOCK feature, combining the use of high-tech and noiseless fabrics with interlock knit construction, while Chervò’s globally-acclaimed DRY-MATIC garments are all made from a special polyamide micro-fibre, guaranteeing rapid moisture evaporation to ensure ultimate freshness in an elegant fit.

AQUA-BLOCK technology enhances the waterproof and breathing properties of the collection while the innovative qualities of its WIND-LOCK technology delivers warmth, softness, insulation and stretch-ability across its latest gilets and jackets, with Chervò using its acclaimed ‘Happy Goose’ 100 per cent animal-free down exclusively for padding in the latter.

In addition, the SS17 range is enhanced by a comprehensive knitwear range produced exclusively for Chervò by the Second Project Company, which lends a further sophistication and Italian elegance and is ideal for any occasion.

Created in 1982 by Manfred and Peter Erlacher, Chervò offers a range of vibrant, stylish and authentic collections which feature the latest cutting-edge technology and performance materials.

Chervò is available at around 1,000 multi-brand venues worldwide, and is established as the leading golf and leisure apparel brand in Italy and numerous other European countries including Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Belgium and Spain. In addition, it is available in pro shops at a selection of prestigious international golf clubs.
