Callaway Unveils Big Bertha V Series Driver & Fairway Woods

A Slimmed Down Big Bertha

Callaway’s re-launched Big Bertha line has been killing it in 2014 at retail and on Tour.  Rather than rest on their laurels and wait for 2015, Callaway is introducing another way for golfers to get big distance with the Big Bertha V Series Driver and Fairway Woods.  What makes this line different than the Big Bertha and Big Bertha Alpha?  The focus here is on light weight and aerodynamics for more speed.  Of course, it also has Callaway’s OptiFit adjustability (8 different settings for loft and lie) and high MOI.

Callaway is quick to point out that while this driver is based on higher speed through lower weight, it’s not only for slower swingers.  The V Series driver was immediately put in the bag by Callaway staffers Patrick Reed, Harris English, and Matt Every – not exactly a trio of short knockers.  In the Callaway Talks video below, Dr. Alan Hocknell explains how the 9 degree head is optimized for better players.

The Big Bertha V Series driver is going to be available in 9°, 10.5° and 13.5° HT.  The Fujikura Speeder 569 shaft will be stock on the 9°, while the 10.5° and 13.5° HT will have Mitsubishi’s 42gram Bassara.

The Big Bertha V Series fairway woods, which Callaway says are the friendliest Big Bertha fairway woods yet,  are available in 3, 5, 7, and 9 woods.  There’s also a new Heavenwood which is 20.5° with a 43″ shaft.
