The Aldila Rogue ∞ CB shaft is counterbalanced to help produce more speed with less effort.  Very consistent feel.  Stout tip produced tight dispersion and predictable ball flight.

Aldila Rogue ∞ CB Shaft Review review

Introduction

When I first learned that Aldila was launching a new family of Rogue shafts, I predicted (correctly) that it would include the conventional Red, Blue, and White profiles.  What I missed, however, was the fourth member of the clan, the Aldila Rogue ∞ CB.  With counterbalancing becoming more popular as a way to gain swing speed, I was excited to test this and see what it could offer.

Looks

The Aldila Rogue ∞ CB is matte black, which makes the silver branding and graphics pop.  There’s only one small splash of color – the rusty orange “CB” – but that rarity makes it even more impactful.  Kudos to Aldila for going with a bold color here.

The graphics on the Rogue ∞ shafts are consistent across the four models.  Moderately sized Rogue branding sits in the middle of the shaft, with the “O” in “Rogue” swapped out for infinity symbol.  Gentle topographical map graphics sit between “Rogue” and the shaft specs.  My favorite part of these shafts, visually, is the wraparound infinity symbol at the butt end because it’s a “cut out” in the finish, a segment of raw graphite.  It’s a subtle difference, but I think it’s very cool. Feel

Let’s start by using the “Precision Stiffness” code on each shaft to place the Aldila Rogue ∞ CB in context.  Going from butt to tip, with 1 being the softest and 9 being the stiffest, the Rogue ∞ White is 6-9-8, the Rogue ∞ Red is 8-8-6, the Rogue ∞ Blue is 9-5-8, and the Rogue ∞ CB is 7-7-8.  By the numbers, this means that the CB has the same stiff tip as the White and Blue, but the mid and butt are both somewhere in between those two.

My experience swinging the Aldila Rogue ∞ CB falls in line with those ratings.  This shaft feels fast thanks to the counterbalancing, but there’s not a lot of kick or action in it.  At the same time, it doesn’t feel boardy or like it’s demanding more from your swing.  For better or worse, it is right in the middle of the Rogue Infinity Blue and Rogue Infinity White.  That could be a perfect balance for some golfers.  For others, this could be the kind of compromise that doesn’t make anyone happy.

Performance

Taking the Aldila Rogue ∞ CB to the range, that idea of it being a mix of Blue and White continued.  For me, the Rogue Infinity White [review HERE] wanted all-out swings and was very anti-left.  It was very predictable, if a bit monotonous.  The Rogue Infinity Blue [review HERE] was extremely versatile for me, an easy natural fit that could produce a variety of shots.  I found the Rogue Infinity CB somewhere in the middle.

Aldila Rogue ∞ CB Shaft Review review

Whether I was swinging hard or not, my stock shot with the Rogue ∞ CB was a push-draw.  It was possible for me to overdo either part of that equation, but the results were quite good overall.  I wasn’t painting the centerline, but the dispersion was tight and predictable.

In terms of shot shaping, I found the Infinity CB to be surprisingly capable.  I say “surprisingly” because there was a disconnect between the results and what I felt.  Virtually every time I wanted the ball to cut or draw, it did, but for some reason I didn’t have the confidence I did with the Rogue Infinity Blue.  I suspect this feeling would change over time, and, more importantly, I’d rather have good results than misplaced confidence.

Aldila Rogue ∞ CB Shaft Review review

Turning to the titular feature, I found that the Aldila Rogue ∞ CB reduced the swing weight about two points compared to the other Rogue Infinity shafts.  For me, that’s a difference that’s noticeable if I’m looking for it, but not one that makes me say, “Wow, that’s light!”  Where the difference showed up for me was the perception of effort during the swing.  As with the new TENSEI 1K Pro Orange [review HERE], swinging this shaft felt easier.  I didn’t gain any ball or club speed, but I got to the same speed with less effort.

My ball flight with the Aldila Rogue ∞ CB leaned closer to that of the Rogue Infinity Blue.  The launch angles favored the lower side of my normal window, but the difference was more measurable than noticeable.  I also found this shaft to be higher spinning.  My ball flight was observably softer than normal, but well short of ballooning.  This likely cost me some roll out distance but also made the dispersion tighter.

The technology behind the ROGUE Infinity CB is ALDILA’s Dual Torque Core, a dual-layered construction that combines high-modulus fiber and pitch fiber to reduce torque and improve shaft stability while maintaining a smooth feel. This construction helps minimize unwanted shaft deformation and supports consistent clubhead delivery through impact.

The Aldila Rogue ∞ CB is available in seven configurations.  At 50 grams, Aldila offers Regular and Stiff flexes.  Stiff and X flex are available at 60 and 70 grams.  The 80 gram version is offered only in X flex. [See Price / Buy]

Conclusion

The Aldila Rogue ∞ CB is a compelling offering and a welcome shake up for the normal red-blue-white lineup.  This offers feel and performance somewhere between the Rogue Infinity White and Rogue Infinity Blue, which will be great for many fast-but-not-elite players.  For all golfers, the counter balancing can be a significant boost to their speed, or can at least make the swing feel easier.
