Bobby Jones Holiday 2016 Apparel Review

50 Words or Less

Befitting his legendary name, the Bobby Jones Holiday 2016 Collection offers an impressive variety of high quality, great looking clothing.

Bobby Jones is a man whose name is forever connected with golf.   With an intellect that matched his superior play, Bobby Jones always looked perfectly put together.  Emblazoned with his name, Bobby Jones apparel carries on the fashion prowess with an astonishing array of clothing and footwear for both men and woman.

As we at PIG often point out, some apparel brands scream golf, while others strive to be acceptable off the course.  The Holiday 2016 Collection from Bobby Jones is a showcase of function and style that seamlessly bridges any occasion.  Without the golf associated name, the clothes would still be accepted and desired by anyone seeking a dapper style.  The Baby Alpaca Houndstooth Sweater in the top picture is a perfect example and provides warmth without bulk.  Need a polished casual look?  The Leaderboard Quarter-Zip Pullover shown above is a sturdy pima cotton that works well with most any shirt and a pair of jeans and is super comfortable.

All of the Bobby Jones shirts and pullovers shown were a good fit in my typical go to size – medium.  Appropriate for the style, the cut is regular – not too loose, not too tight.  The ¼ zip pullovers are great for layering and easy to get on and off.

I was excited to see that Bobby Jones offers pants in odd waist sizes, as I’m typically a size 33 that has to go to 34 in even-only sizes.  The Flat-Front Tech Pants in Summer Navy fit nicely around the waist.  The cut is what I consider regular, with room in the seat and thighs.  I like the tour split on the bottom, but offered only in a 33 ¼” inseam, the legs were too long for my 32” inseam.  The Stretch Cord Trousers were snug in the waist and there was no stretch in the waistband.  That seemed odd, since the rest of the pant had great stretch which was perfect for the more athletic cut and golf actions.  After washing, the waist was beyond snug, although the 33 ¼” standard inseam is now a good length.  I’d recommend going up a size and enjoying, as these are the most luxurious cords I’ve ever felt.

The Bobby Jones Holiday 2016 pieces perform equally well on and off the course.  With golf as my main objective, the XH2O performance pieces Heritage Stripe Pique Polo and Crawford Quarter-Zip shown above managed moisture and provided stretch when needed.  It’s hard to maintain your body temperature when the temperatures drop, and it’s nice to utilize performance fabrics that can handle some moisture and dry quickly.  I mention off course performance because you’ll appreciate comfortable and breathable Bobby Jones clothing for those long days at Aunt Edna’s when you may go from a stuffy cramped living room watching bowl games to tossing the pigskin outside with your nephews.

Visiting the Bobby Jones website, I’m still amazed at the vast amount of products they offer.  If I had to empty my closet and only choose one brand to restock, Bobby Jones would be hard to beat.  The 2016 Holiday Collection offers great fabrics, fresh colors, and impeccable detailing.  Although I had some sizing issues with the pants, the quality and performance of the collection is still top shelf.
