Bermuda Sands Spring ’17 Apparel Review

Bermuda Sands Spring 17 - 5

50 Words or Less

With colors straight out of a Caribbean sunset, the Bermuda Sands Apparel Spring ’17 collection offers comfortable shirts and outerwear that perform on the golf course and look great at the pool side barbeque.

Introduction

Bermuda Sands may not currently be a brand in your closet, but that’s likely to change now that it’s in over a thousand shops.  Not bad for a family owned company that started in 2009.  Based out of Charlotte, NC, Bermuda Sands Apparel controls quality and costs with their own factory in Guatemala.  You won’t find shorts or pants on their website, because Bermuda Sands focuses on what they do best – shirts and outerwear.

Style

Although some shirts in the Spring ’17 collection may have subtle graphics, for the most part Bermuda Sands stuck to solids and classic stripes.  Where they do bring in a modern style is with wonderful colors.  More of a pastel pallet, the colors evoke a relaxed, breezy island beach with names like Aqua Bay and Surf Green.  The shirt shown above is Victory in Coral Reef and is one of the softest shirts I’ve ever worn.

Fit

All three Bermuda Sands pieces tested are sized for the common man – not tight and not baggy.  I’m typically a size medium, and the sizing was spot on.  Shoulder seams sit right at your shoulders and the sleeves on the polos cover your biceps with ample arm openings.  The Eclipse quarter zip pull-over has wide cuffs to keep the sleeves in place and a banded bottom that gently gathers around your lower torso, keeping cool breezes from running up your back.

Performance

The Tioga Fine Stripe Polo, shown in Amethyst, is made of 100% polyester and does a great job of moving sweat from your body.  The Victory is from the XP line which adds in 8% spandex for increased stretch and anti-microbial properties on top of moisture management.  The Eclipse incorporates Storm-Dri technology making it water repellent, even while being 50% cotton.  Not only do you get a soft, comfortable pull-over, you get one that can handle rain drops or a spilled beverage.  All three offer great range of movement.

Conclusion

Beyond the great fit and inspired colors, it’s nice to have clothing options that don’t scream “golf.”  In fact, these Bermuda Sands pieces don’t scream anything – and that’s a compliment to the designers.  The relaxed, comfortable vibe reminds me of steel drums.  Even the simple logo is placed on the back of the neck as not to draw attention.

  1. I have several shirts from Bermuda Sands and love them. A reasonably priced shirt made with quality.
