Motocaddy Reveals Why More American Golfers Should Walk the Course
-Research shows how electric caddies can help golfers reduce strain, maintain focus and finish every round stronger-
VISTA, CA – Motocaddy, the world’s leading electric caddy brand, is encouraging more American golfers to walk the course as part of their regular exercise routine, with research showing that walking delivers significant physical and mental health benefits while also helping golfers perform better.
As many American golfers continue to rely on golf carts, walking with an electric caddy offers a smarter alternative by delivering the proven physical and mental health benefits of walking without the fatigue associated with carrying or pushing clubs.
According to the latest Golf & Health Report published by The R&A, research found that an 18-hole round typically covers between four and five miles and involves around 13,000 steps, exceeding the widely recommended daily target of 10,000. Even a nine-hole round can account for approximately 6,500 steps, while playing at a brisk pace can contribute towards the World Health Organization’s recommended levels of weekly physical activity.
The benefits extend beyond the step count. Walking golfers can experience three to five hours of sustained moderate cardiovascular activity, alongside improvements in balance and coordination. Time spent in green space has been associated with reduced stress and anxiety, while the social nature of golf can support overall mental wellbeing.
Unlike riding in a golf cart, walking allows golfers to stay active throughout the round, maintaining a steady level of physical activity while spending more time immersed in the course environment. An electric caddy provides the ideal balance by preserving those health benefits without the additional strain of transporting clubs for the duration of a round of golf.
For American golfers, gaining those benefits doesn’t mean carrying a heavy golf bag or pushing a manual cart around the course. Motocaddy electric caddies allow players to retain the exercise and cardiovascular advantages of walking while reducing unnecessary physical strain.
Independent research conducted by Sporting Insights* among more than 2,700 golfers across the United States and Canada found that 76% of American golfers who switched to an electric caddy feel fitter, while 84% identified walking the course without the strain of carrying their clubs as the biggest benefit. In addition, 55% said using an electric caddy makes golf more enjoyable and 59% reported having more energy.
That extra energy can prove invaluable over the closing holes, when fatigue often impacts concentration and swing consistency. The same study found that 69% of American electric caddy users believe it positively impacts their ability to hit the ball better.
“Walking has always been one of golf’s greatest strengths, yet many players still assume they need to use a golf cart because they don’t want the physical effort of carrying or pushing their clubs,” said Oliver Churcher, Marketing Director at Motocaddy. “Electric caddies remove that barrier, allowing golfers to enjoy all the health and wellbeing benefits of walking the course while conserving energy for their game,” he added.
Dr. Antoni Jakubowski, a leading chiropractor who has helped Major champions including Justin Rose and Sir Nick Faldo overcome back injuries, highlights the importance of electric caddies.
For golfers looking to embrace the benefits of walking without unnecessary physical strain, Motocaddy offers an award-winning range of electric caddies to suit every playing style and budget. From the easy-to-use M1 DHC through to GPS-equipped and remote-control models such as the high-tech M7 GPS REMOTE, there is an option for every golfer.
With 44% of American electric caddy users saying they wish they had switched sooner, it’s clear that more golfers are recognizing that powered assistance isn’t just the easy option. It’s simply a smarter way to walk.
As more Americans look for simple ways to stay active, walking the golf course presents an easy opportunity to improve physical and mental wellbeing. Choosing an electric caddy over a golf cart enables golfers to enjoy those benefits without sacrificing comfort, making every round healthier, more enjoyable and potentially more rewarding.
