While it’s no longer the new kid on the block, Mitsubishi’s TENSEI Orange continues to be a favorite on Tour and in fittings. The combination of lower spin, a stout tip section, and counterbalancing make it fast, stable, and consistent for golfers of all different stripes. The latest iteration, the 2026 Mitsubishi TENSEI 1K Pro Orange, has two exciting new technology stories that aim to make it the best version yet.
Looks
As soon as I unboxed the 2026 Mitsubishi TENSEI 1K Pro Orange, two seemingly opposite thoughts popped into my head: “This looks just like a TENSEI” and “This is a really solid upgrade on the original.” This could be reduced to one thought: this is Mitsubishi doing what Mitsubishi does. They’ve mastered the art of maintaining a shaft’s aesthetic character while also giving golfers something a little fresh and different from the previous version [review HERE].
The most obvious change is just below the grip: the “Multi Material” symbols are now connected by orange lines, not grey. This small change makes a big visual impression, especially when the old and new are side by side. More subtle is the fact that Mitsubishi painted the butt section black and the carbon fiber is now visible in the midsection. While not a screaming change, it does make a big impact with the look at address.
What has remained is the orange band below the grip and the iridescent “TENSEI” branding, though this is slightly bigger on the new version. Overall, the 2026 Mitsubishi TENSEI 1K Pro Orange looks fantastic, and I entered my testing hoping that the performance got a similar “same, but better” upgrade. [See Price / Buy]
Feel
Swinging the 2026 Mitsubishi TENSEI 1K Pro Orange felt like seeing an old friend after a long time apart. There was an immediate comfort and knowledge alongside a high level of excitement.
I’ve always found TENSEI Orange to be a really fun shaft to swing. It has the stable tip section like my frequent gamer, the TENSEI White [review HERE], so I don’t feel like I need to hold back. At the same time, the counterbalancing makes the shaft feel faster and easier to swing. That’s an exhilarating combination.
I tested the 2026 Mitsubishi TENSEI 1K Pro Orange in stiff and X flex. Both shafts felt strong in the tip section without being harsh. The smooth kick feels like it’s happening just below the orange band. During this testing period, my speed was at the higher end of its range, so the X flex was more comfortable for me, more capable of handling a full effort and less reliant on timing. If my speed were down, the stiff flex could be better for not pushing me to swing hard.
Performance
The TENSEI Orange has been so popular because it checks a lot of boxes for a lot of different types of players. Stronger swingers like the stout tip and lower spin. The counterbalancing can help golfers in a couple ways. Objectively, the heavier butt section allows for lighter swing weights with heavier heads or longer build lengths. Counter balancing can also have a notable effect on players’ swings, often leading to a more positive angle of attack [more on why that can be helpful HERE].
As a player who already “swings up” substantially with the driver, I’ve had mixed results with counterbalanced shafts. I love the fast feeling and often see a boost in club speed, but my angle of attack can get out of line, leading to inconsistent strikes and dispersion.
With the 2026 Mitsubishi TENSEI 1K Pro Orange, I definitely saw my speed come up. My peak club speed was two MPH faster than with my gamer, and the smash factors were outstanding. Even on mishits, the ball speed stayed high – a testament to the new RIP+ Tip Technology. On the other hand, if I swung naturally, my angle of attack went up even more, and I had a handful of poor strikes.
Overall, the ceiling on my driving with the 2026 Mitsubishi TENSEI 1K Pro Orange was incredibly high. The ball launched mid/high, spin was controlled, and the speed and distances were outstanding. During good stretches, my stock shot was a small pull, and the miss was that same pull with a soft draw on it. Hitting a cut took a good effort, but it was predictable and consistent. Getting these results required some focus on making my swing more level, but the results were worth it.

Conclusion
Nine times out of ten, I recommend playing the equipment that lets you “swing your swing.” The 2026 Mitsubishi TENSEI 1K Pro Orange is, for me, the outlier that makes me question whether or not I should undergo a tiny change to make this my full time gamer.
