The Koger Sunday bag has been my gamer since I first reviewed it over two years ago. New options include a double (backpack) strap and a second divider. Remains the best Sunday bag I’ve ever used.

Introduction
You are reading a first of its kind: a Plugged In Golf follow up review. In May of 2023, I wrote my initial review of the Koger golf bag. Since then, I’ve used it for almost every round that I’ve played. In the ensuing two years, they’ve made a couple significant modifications, so I wanted to circle back, talk about those upgrades, and discuss how the bag has aged with me. Let’s dive in.
I’m going to try to avoid repeating too much of the original review, so if you want the basic info, click HERE.

Looks
Something that Koger has not changed is the minimalist look of their bag. It’s still available in three basic colors – white, dark grey, and beige – with almost no branding. Koger does offer embroidery on the pocket, but even with a logo, this bag is ultra clean.
Speaking of clean, this bag has been through a lot with me, and it still looks new. The material is easy to clean with a little water and towel. It shows no signs of wear.
Finally, I noted in my original review that this simple bag drew a lot of comments from other golfers. That has remained true. Virtually every time I go to a course, someone asks about. Even as Vessel and its many imitators usher in an era of classier looking golf bags, the Koger Sunday bag stands out.

Features
Koger has introduced two new options over the last couple years. First is the backpack strap. While the dual straps seem excessive on a Sunday bag, the company’s founder, Johannes, reports that a sizable percentage of Koger buyers opt for this [listen to our full conversation HERE]. I tested both and prefer the traditional single strap, though the backpack straps are well engineered. You can order your bag with both if you want to have options.
Additionally, golfers can now get two dividers on the Koger Sunday bag. Despite its slim profile, you can fit 14 clubs in this bag. If you’re going to do that, having two dividers may be preferable for keeping things organized. Minimalists and half-setters like myself can still get the bag with one divider.

As a quick refresh, the only other “features” of the Koger Sunday bag are two pockets – one on each side – and a pair of loops near the top of the shoulder strap. The pockets are different sizes: one is roughly half the length of the bag, the other about two thirds. They’re big enough to carry everything you need, not so big that you’ll be toting unnecessary junk.

Performance
In addition to adding new options, the Koger Sunday bag now features an upgraded strap. While I stand by what I said in the original review – this is the best shoulder strap I’ve used on a Sunday bag – Koger found that the suede material on the underside showed signs of wear over time. To combat this, they swapped the suede for Hypalon, a material used in sailing. This was chosen for its durability, and while I don’t have too many rounds on it yet, I can say that it feels like a material that will last forever.
So why has the Koger Sunday bag surpassed every other bag I own? Because the honeymoon phase hasn’t ended. With most golf products – clubs, bags, shoes – it’s easy to fall in love. You notice the good things, and they get all your attention. With this bag, that’s the weight, the perfect balance, the outstanding strap, and the durable material that lets me use it without any concern.

But with most products, as time goes on, you start to notice some flaws. Maybe they’re not even flaws, they’re just things that don’t align with you. If those misalignments aren’t too serious, the product sticks around for a while. If it’s moderate, you start considering your options. If it’s severe, you immediately hop on the internet and find something new.
With the Koger Sunday bag, I’ve yet to find anything I don’t like. Every time I use it, it puts a smile on my face. It does exactly what it’s supposed to. It carries everything I need. It’s simply the perfect golf bag for me.

Conclusion
I’ve been running PluggedInGolf.com for almost twelve years. In that time, I’ve learned that there’s really no such thing as a piece of gear that can’t be replaced, but the Koger Sunday bag is as close as it gets. Someone may create a better Sunday bag eventually, but they haven’t yet. If you’re looking to carry a lighter load, I give this bag my fullest endorsement.

Thanks, Bought the larger bag two years ago, then the new single strap and wooden stand a year ago, and now just ordered the double strap – just in case.
If it helps, I can confirm everything Matt said about this Sunday Bag – it’s my go to at the range to take 10 clubs or 3 wedges and a putter. On the course, when walking, I can take 14 clubs. The strap does stay on your shoulder, the wooden stand is perfect for range time. And after two years, it cleans up and provides waterproofing for the bag itself. One of my better purchases.
The follow up review is exactly my experience. Started using a half set just over a year ago, searched for Sunday bags (Mackenzie etc) and stumbled upon your first review which made me buy the Koger. Durable, classic and brilliantly engineered.
It also makes me smile every time I take it out of my locker! Minimalist, walking golf is hard to beat.
I must have played close to 250 rounds with it, in all weathers, and it performs so well. Wet? A wipe after and it dries quickly and looks good as new.
The strap, I definitely prefer the single for my half set and the suede has held up well for me.
The bag’s only problem is it is TOO WELL MADE! I want an excuse to buy another but just have no reason to, for now!
Great owner, great brand and ethos, great product.
Can only agreed with Matt. Perfect bag. Been rocking it for more than 2 years and it still feels and look as amazing as it was back then. As an half-setter myself, I have everything I need and nothing I don’t.
What’s the makeup of your half set of clubs?
Jeff,
Typically Driver, 4I, 6I, 8I, PW, Putter, and either 56 or 50/60.
Best,
Matt
Matt, for your 4i, are you still using a utility club (think you used to have a new level) or you play your set 4i?
Absolutely love your whole setup actually. Well done
Thanks, Martin.
I go back and forth between the New Level 4I and my PXG 0317 T 4I depending on how I’m feeling and how I’m swinging.
Best,
Matt
Thanks Matt!
Matt, how does the bag feel against the body when using the double strap since the larger pocket is on the body side? Adequate room and access for a water bottle in the pockets?
Dave,
It’s not as contoured or padded as the stand bags that are purpose-built to have double straps, but it’s fine.
Best,
Matt
I just bought the white bag with the two dividers and both single and double straps. It arrived quickly from Koger. I played 18 holes today carrying 14 clubs and using the double strap. Yes, you can fit 14 clubs in the bag but it takes some effort at times to fit a club back in the bag. The bag was perfectly balanced on my back parallel to the ground at all times. I never experienced this with stand bags. Carrying the bag using just one of the straps worked fine also. The two pockets were easy to access and I carried a supply of food, two drinks, golf balls, tees and phone. Attached range finder to a loop. Probably not a winter bag for me due to space issue dealing with layers of clothing. Easy to clean the bag after use. I’m going to enjoy carrying and using this high quality bag.
Hi Matt, did you ever have interest in the other colors of the Koger bag? I am having trouble deciding which one to get so I’d love to hear why you chose the white and if you’d still get the white bag if you were purchasing a Koger bag today.
Garrett,
I’m not sure how I ended up with the white initally. I think if I were to pick again, I’d stick with white. My second choice would be grey. The bag cleans up so easily that my normal concerns with white are moot.
Best,
Matt
How would 10 clubs with midsize (CP2) grips fit? I have a Half Light bag, and 10 is a little too tight
Dave,
Yes, I have carried 10 or more clubs in mine, with midsized grips.
Best,
Matt
