Honma Unveils TR21X Irons as Part of the TR Family of Products

CARLSBAD, CA – For the past several months, Honma has been turning heads and gaining share in golfers’ bags with its premium-performance TR20 drivers and irons. Now, the ongoing collaboration between its Japanese and U.S. development efforts is pleased to launch new products with exceptional performance as part of the TR family –  the TR21X Irons. Targeted at competitive to mid-handicap golfers, the TR line is a full family of clubs that players can trust from the tee or approaching the green.

The new TR21 designs combine 60 years of expert Japanese craftsmanship with the cutting-edge construction and performance-forward thinking expected in the North American market. Honma’s TR21 and TR20 products combine in perfect harmony the things that premium performance golfers want – beautifully-crafted looks, great sound, solid feel, fast ball speed and playability that makes the game easier and more enjoyable.

NEXT-GENERATION PLAYERS DISTANCE IRONS

Honma gained attention when its T//World TW-X irons were named MyGolfSpy.com’s “Most Wanted Players Distance” Iron earlier this year. Now the venerable brand has taken the playable players distance concept to new heights. Golfers seeking high launch, long carry distance and spin control have a beautifully-crafted option in the new TR21X iron with a back design styled after the tour-validated TR20B and internal construction that produces exceptional ball flight.

“The distance iron category is the fastest growing iron segment and the TR21X makes a bold statement of looks, sound, feel and flight that will bring a lot of confidence to players who put this full set in play,” says Mark Myrhum Director of Global Product. “Golfers can also take advantage of the exceptional long- and mid-iron playability and combine it with Honma’s high-performance TR20P, V or B irons.”

Shaped like a beautiful blade iron with a slightly longer confidence-building shape, the hollow design has a heavy internal tungsten bar low in the club head which allows Honma’s team to move the TR21X’s center of gravity as deep and low as possible. The design increases launch and improves the club’s MOI for higher initial launch with less twisting on off-center hits. The TR21X’s high-strength steel, thin, fast L-Cup face design, increases speed while the injected foam inside the hollow body construction optimizes its feel and acoustics.

The tungsten bar gets heavier as the club’s lofts increase: 42-gram weights in the 2, 3 and 4 irons, 50 grams in the 5, 6 and 7 irons and 73 grams in the 8, 9, 10 and 11 irons. This amount of tungsten provides tremendous stability and solid feel. The TR21X iron features the strongest lofts in the TR line, which work ideally with the high-launch, high-MOI design of this forgiving distance iron.

Nippon Shaft’s First Indoor Testing Center Allows Access to Company’s Full Line of Shafts at No Charge

CARLSBAD, CA – Nippon Shaft, in partnership with Shaftology Centers, today opened its first comprehensive indoor testing center, where golfers will be able to sample the company’s complete range of N.S.PRO steel and graphite products.

“The purpose of our new testing center is to give golfers the opportunity to test any and all Nippon Shaft products for drivers, fairway clubs, hybrids, irons and wedges – and at no charge,” said Hiro Fukuda, sales and marketing for Nippon Shaft. “We are excited to be working with our longtime partners at Shaftology to help golfers discover what shafts work best for them so they can get maximum enjoyment out of playing golf.”

The Nippon Shaft Indoor Test Center-Chicago is located at the Shaftology Centers Office, 245 W. Roosevelt Road in suburban West Chicago. Test sessions of between 30 and 60 minutes are available by appointment only. Appointments and more information can be found by calling 630-520-0452.  Comprehensive COVID measures will be in place for golfers’ safety, according to company representatives.

“We created the Test Center so that golfers would have the opportunity to hit and compare the complete Nippon Shaft line from the low-swing-speed ZELOS models to the high-swing-speed MODUS³ models,” said Mark Pekarek, manager of Shaftology and Nippon Shaft representative since 2001. “Even the best club fitting shops are not able to showcase Nippon Shaft’s full inventory of products.”

After golfers test the shafts, they will receive shaft recommendations and installation options that they can take to their preferred retailer or club fitter, Pekarek said. He said the Test Center would have club heads of major manufacturers available to test with the shafts.

This year, Nippon Shaft’s MODUS³ series of steel shafts has 20 victories on major world tours despite the pandemic that shut down the game for approximately 10 weeks. The MODUS³ model has 222 victories since it debuted in 2010, according to company officials.
