Bridgestone Unveils New Tiger Woods Edition Balls Combining Innovative 2020 Tour B Technologies and Collectible Packaging
COVINGTON, GA – On the heels of the most-talked about golf ball launch at the 2020 PGA Merchandise Show, Bridgestone Golf, the #1 Ball-Fitter in Golf, unveiled today its highly anticipated new version of the popular TOUR B XS – Tiger Woods edition balls. The new TOUR B XS-TW balls, a strong collaboration between Tiger and Bridgestone, deliver a game-changing combination of driver distance and greenside control unlike anything ever before, thanks to Bridgestone’s new REACTIV Urethane® cover. From a performance perspective, the TOUR B XS-TW edition balls are identical to the standard TOUR B XS model that Woods currently is using in all professional competitions.
The 2020 TOUR B XS-TW balls feature the unmistakable “TIGER” sidestamp that replicates how the 15-time major winner marks his balls. In addition, new commemorative packaging that recalls Tiger’s emotional first major championship in more than a decade, last April among the Georgia Pines, makes these balls just as suitable for a collector to display on a shelf as they are for play on the course.
The new TOUR B XS-TW featuring a REACTIV cover has been partially responsible for an increase in Tiger’s driving distance and substantially more greenside spin in 2020. REACTIV is the golf world’s first SMART Urethane – using an “impact modifier” to deliver a shock absorbing soft cover on slow impact shots for more spin and control – and high resilience on high impact shots for more power and distance. The material reacts differently depending on the force of the impact. In essence, on the violent impact of a driver, REACTIV rebounds quicker than other urethane covers, generating more ball speed and longer distance. On the softer touch and feel of wedge shots, REACTIV keeps the ball on the face longer, allowing golfers to impart more spin and have better control in the short game.

A Glimpse Into the Future for More Sustainable Apparel and Footwear in Golf
CARLSBAD, CA – The next stop showcasing adidas’ journey to END PLASTIC WASTE is the golf course. adidas athletes competing in THE PLAYERS Championship this week will be wearing select apparel and footwear made from upcycled plastic waste, a first in the sport. This environment-friendly capsule of apparel and footwear for both men and women is available today.
The more sustainable collection is made from adidas’ new PRIMEBLUE material made in part with Parley Ocean Plastic. This upcycled plastic waste is intercepted on remote islands, beaches, coastal communities and shorelines, preventing it from polluting our ocean. Its then turned into high-performance polyester yarn used in apparel and footwear.
The special PRIMEBLUE collection will feature two polos and shorts for men, and a sleeveless polo and skort for women. It also includes limited edition footwear for both men and women made from upcycled plastic waste. The unique footwear is designed from adidas’ new CODECHAOS silhouette, the latest footwear from that brand that pushes the boundaries on what a golf shoe can be.
By 2050, our oceans may be filled with more plastic than fish. That’s one of the reasons why adidas will convert 100 percent of our virgin polyester to recycled in every application where a solution exists by 2024. This PRIMEBLUE capsule in golf is part of a larger Three Loop Strategy announced last month that outlines adidas’ aim to END PLASTIC WASTE.
In the spring/summer 2020 golf collection alone, 71 percent of the apparel and 75 percent of the footwear uses material made from recycled polyester.
