Shot Scope Debuts CONNEX Performance Tracking Tags Giving Amateur Golfers The Same On Course Game Analysis Data As Professional Tour Players

EDINBURGH, UK – Shot Scope, the golf industry-leader in advanced GPS and shot tracking technology, today introduced CONNEX Performance Tags, an innovation that provides amateur golfers with the same on course game analysis data as professional tour players.

Offered at an unbeatable $99.99 price point with no subscription fees, the ultra-lightweight (2 grams) CONNEX “plug and play” tags easily screw into the end of each club grip. Powered by the FREE Shot Scope app (iOS/Android) golfers can record their shots via “contactless technology” on their mobile phone, establishing another method of game tracking using golf’s most affordable and accurate platform backed by over 100 performance statistics.

CONNEX performance tracking tags with RFID technology captures every shot hit on the golf course from tee to green, allowing golfers to record their score and collect personalized data as they play. Golfers simply tap their club against the phone prior to a shot and the shot tracking takes over. After the round, golfers can easily log into their Shot Scope App and analyze performance statistics, reviewing data on club distances, approaches, short game, putting, shot dispersion and much more. Additionally, golfers can learn their strengths and weaknesses with Shot Scope’s Strokes Gained and Handicap Benchmarking, so they can determine key areas for practice and improvement.

CONNEX tags, which DO NOT require a Smart Watch or GPS Device, offer so much more than performance tracking. On the 1st tee, golfers quickly open the app, select a course, and get access to full course aerial maps that give a bird’s eye view of every hole, including distance measurements to the front, middle, and back of the green, plus any point on the hole such as a hazard or distance to a dogleg. Golfers can also review each green layout and move the pin position for more accurate yardages. With over 36,000 courses accurately mapped by Shot Scope, golfers will have all the distances they need to perform at their best.

Once golfers begin capturing their performance data on the course, Shot Scope allows them to build a game improvement strategy based on the golf courses they regularly play, including shots plotted and course analysis. Detailed putting data that is captured during a round also enables in-depth analysis, while statistics aggregated off the tee and on the fairway, can be broken down by lie type, distance, club used, proximity, round and season.

While golfers can analyze their own performance after every round, one of the greatest game improvement benefits of the CONNEX tracking tags is the connectivity with Shot Scope Academy, a first-of-its-kind game tracking system — designed specifically for PGA Professionals, golf coaches, and teachers — that establishes a tether between instructors and golfers to track and analyze their performance on the course. Post round, and once all data captured from tee to green is seamlessly uploaded to the Shot Scope App, golfers can instantly connect with their instructor who can view and analyze the round and, in-turn, send game improvement recommendations or lesson plans.

Adds Hunter, “With hundreds of thousands of golfers around the world using Shot Scope products every day our technology is proven to lower scores and improve performance for golfers of all playing levels. However, through Shot Scope Academy our ability to connect golfers with instructors for post-round game analysis is truly revolutionary, as an instructor can see first-hand how the golfer is performing from tee-to-green, and immediately provide expert insight.”

Shot Scope’s CONNEX Performance Tracking Tags, which have an SRP of $99.99 and conform to the Rules of Golf, can be purchased at Dick’s Sporting Goods, Golf Galaxy, PGA Superstores, golf specialty stores, or online at www.shotscope.com.

BOYNE Golf to Open Highlands 9-Hole Short Course and Himalayan-Style Putting Course In 2024

HARBOR SPRINGS, MI – BOYNE Golf in scenic Northern Michigan, one of North America’s largest golf and resort destinations, is proud to announce that construction is underway on a Ray Hearn-designed 9-hole short course and an adjacent Himalayan-style putting course near its Main Lodge at The Highlands resort property.

This fun, ultra-inclusive short course design, the 11th course at the Northern Michigan based resort, represents a piece of BOYNE Golf’s long-term vision to meet the resort’s growth needs by developing several short courses at its various locations nationwide. Golf’s blossoming popularity over the past few years has brought experienced golfers out more often, brought back many who have left the game, and attracted many newcomers. As a result, many popular golf destinations around North America have introduced upscale short courses, to complement the championship courses already on property.

Hearn, a renowned Michigan golf course architect, was a natural fit to work with BOYNE Golf teams on the design for this new golf experience. Over the past several years, he has worked closely with BOYNE Golf and developed a trust modernizing its classic course designs while respecting the original architect’s philosophy and making them more enjoyable golf experiences.

“Designing and building the short course with Stephen Kircher, Bernie Friedrich, Furness Golf and the BOYNE team has been an exciting project to be a part of and it will be fun to watch all the varying skill levels of golfers having fun playing the game on this unique course built into the side of the ski hill,” said Hearn. “My favorite part of the project are the famous approximate green complexes I was able to create. Drawing inspiration from some of my favorite greens in Scotland, Ireland, and America (Eden, Punch Bowl, Short, Redan, Reverse Redan, Partial Volcano, Steep Slope, Postage Stamp, and Biarritz) that I have played and studied over the years. I was able to create fun, ‘kinda-sorta’ scaled-down versions of the originals and route them along the ski slope with uphill, downhill, and sidehill holes creating some thrilling golf shots.”

This new yet-to-be-named short course will be lit for nighttime rounds and is located on the site of the former Cuff Links nine-hole par-3 course. It’s designed to first and foremost be fun and allow golfers of all levels to enjoy the experience. Each golfer can determine the level of challenge that suits them for that round. The course will feature downhill, flat, uphill and sidehill fairway lies, generally moving horizontally back and forth across the slope.

Two to three fairway options are available for each hole. Shorter-length options offer fewer hazards in the line of play and longer options offer more hazards and strategic risks. Additionally, there will be only two heights of grass (green and fairway) surrounded by a sparse fescue secondary rough grass. The greens will feature a slight flavor of some of Hearn’s favorite greens from the British Isles. All skill levels will enjoy playing this course.

Likewise, the new Himalayan-style, nine-hole putting course is being designed to be fun for golf-a-holics and non-golfers alike. The undulations will challenge and entertain all ages in a relaxed setting. The correct “aiming point” will often not be the straightest.

Construction on the new short course began in mid-July and is expected to be completed by the fall of 2023. The planned course opening will be in the spring of 2024.
