New Exotics EXS 220 Metalwoods Featuring MAX M.O.I., New Diamond Face Technology Announced by Tour Edge

BATAVIA, IL – Tour Edge officially introduces the Exotics EXS 220 driver, fairway metal and hybrid, featuring state-of-the-art game-enhancing innovations that vastly improves upon the wildly successful and award-winning Exotics EXS line that launched in November of 2018.

Exotics EXS 220 metalwoods feature Diamond Face technology, a major breakthrough in face technology that features different thick and thin diamond shapes or “mini-trampolines” behind the face, producing a hotter face with faster ball speeds and better performance on off-center hits, as well as reduced spin.

The all new shapes and weight repositioning of the EXS 220 metalwoods have made for the most forgiving and stable metals ever produced by Tour Edge.

The new ultra-premium, high-performance Exotics EXS 220 driver, fairway metal and hybrid will be featured at the 2020 PGA Merchandise Show and will be available for purchase worldwide on February 1, 2020.

EXS 220 Driver

The EXS 220 Driver produces extreme Moment of Inertia (M.O.I.) numbers with its all new elongated face-to-back shape and adjustable 9-gram back weight to create one of the highest M.O.I. ratings ever manufactured in a driver. Additional weights will be available in 3 grams, 6 grams, 11 grams and 14 grams to help dial in the preferred swing weight and trajectory. The driver features an all new elongated shape and adjustable 9-gram back weight to create an M.O.I. of 5440 grams per cubic centimeter, a 20% percent increase over the previous EXS Driver.

Helping secure such high M.O.I. numbers was also made possible by the employment of Triple Carbon Fiber technology featured on the crown and heel/toe areas of the sole. This premium and extremely light weight carbon fiber provides extreme weight savings that could then be repositioned into the back of the clubhead. The high-grade 8-1-1 Titanium face of the EXS 220 Driver is shallower and features a lower density, lighter Titanium to allow for more weight repositioning. Behind the face, the revolutionary Diamond Face technology features 42 different thick and thin diamond shapes, producing a massive sweet spot. The Diamond Face produces a hotter face with faster ball speeds, reduction of spin and better performance on off-center hits.

Tour Edge engineers have placed a Sound Diffusion Bar (S.D. Bar) inside the club head that has been used to improve the acoustic engineering of the entire new EXS metalwood line up. The S.D. Bar was modeled using the F.E.A software to research and fine tune the acoustical properties of the driver. The S.D. Bar is similar idea employed in music studios and concert halls with diffusion panels used to enhance the richness of sound.

The EXS 220 offers an unprecedented range of lofts from 7.5 degrees to 14 degrees with three head options. An adjustable hosel allows golfers to adjust the loft Plus/Minus 2 degrees up and down, so with three lofts being offered in 9.5, 10.5, and 12 degrees, the EXS 220 offers an unprecedented range of lofts from 7.5 degrees to 14 degrees between the three loft options. A left-handed version will be made available in the 10.5 loft option.

The Exotics 220 line-up will now be included in Tour Edge’s unprecedented 48-hour custom delivery program for custom orders anywhere in the continental United States.

EXS 220 Fairway

The new EXS 220 Fairway Metals are made with a new Hyper-Steel that is 14% lighter than the previous EXS fairway metal, allowing for more weight to be positioned in the center of the sole and the rear of the clubhead to create dual-concentric weighting that produces a unique combination of ease of launch and low spin. The combination of the back weight, the Diamond Cup Face and Dual Carbon Sole produced impressive distance gains, while also providing extreme forgiveness off the face by greatly increasing the M.O.I. of the clubhead.

Dual Carbon Fiber placements featured in the heel and toe and a new larger 6-gram weight placed in the rear of the clubhead helped create extreme weight savings that could be then repositioned to help create the extreme jump in MOI properties and to create the ideal C.G. position for a fairway metal.

Additional weights will be available in 3 grams, 9 grams, 11 grams and 14 grams to help dial in the preferred swing weight and trajectory. While typical variable face thickness would feature only three layers of thick and thin areas behind the face, Diamond Face technology features 44 different thick and thin diamond shapes behind the face of the fairway metal, producing a sweet spot that is extended higher on the toe, heel and center of the face.

The SlipStream Sole features improved wider speed channels that create a faster clubhead speed due to smoother turf interaction.

The EXS 220 fairway metal also features the S.D. Bar used to improve the acoustic engineering by enhancing the richness of sound upon impact.

Three 3-Woods will be offered in the EXS 220 fairway metal line-up, 13.5, 15 and 16.5 degree models. The 15-degree will be available in left-handed.  There will also an 18-degree 5-Wood and 21-degree 7-Wood available.

EXS 220 Hybrid

The larger clubhead of the EXS 220 Hybrid is made to bring the power of a fairway metal to a hybrid design.  This amped-up hybrid utilizes a lighter 450-Hyper-Steel/360-degree Cup Face design that features new Diamond Face technology that features 44 different thick and thin diamond shapes behind the face of the hybrid.

The EXS 220 Hybrid features a new M.O.I. raising shape that is deeper from face to back and an adjustable 4-gram back weight that creates a more stable and forgiving hybrid design. Additional weights will be available in 7 grams and 10 grams to help dial in the preferred swing weight and trajectory.

A raised Center of Gravity (C.G.) is accomplished by indents on the heel and toe on the sole of the club head, allowing weight to be strategically positioned to reduce spin. These indents act as thicker area weight pads positioned from the weight savings of the lighter face and help reduce turf interaction in conjunction with the SlipStream Sole so the hybrid is the ultimate club to glide through the rough.

The SlipStream Sole of the hybrid has been redesigned with wider channels to allow the center of the sole to engage into the turf and lower the leading edge at impact for more solid contact.

Inside the club head, Tour Edge engineers have placed an S.D. Bar that has been used to improve the acoustic engineering of the hybrid.

The EXS 220 Hybrid comes in a #2/17-degree, #3/19-degree, #4/22-degree, #5/25-degree and #6/28-dergee models.
