Fujikura Extends VENTUS TR Line For 2022

CARLSBAD, CA – Fujikura, the most trusted wood shaft brand on the PGA Tour, is proud to unveil the latest additions to the successful VENTUS TR line of shafts: VENTUS TR Red and VENTUS TR Black.
The extended VENTUS TR line now features three launch profiles (mid-high, mid, and low) that are designed specifically to stiffen torque in the section of the shaft where golfers need it most, leading to increased stability and consistency. While VeloCore Technology remains at the heart of all VENTUS TR products to provide an incredibly stable overall platform, an added layer of ultra-strong and ultra-lightweight spread tow carbon fabric reinforces the mid/handle section to increase torsional stiffness. Each VENTUS TR profile provides similar feel to its original VENTUS counterpart, but with enhanced stiffness and reduced launch and spin.

Ongoing enso® analytics at Fujikura have shown one of the highest stress points of the shaft is the mid/handle section during the transition and downswing. Fujikura’s engineers targeted this specific section in VENTUS TR shafts to reduce twist and ovalization, providing golfers maximum stability and consistency for straighter shots and improved mishits.

“Any time we incorporate a new technology into a shaft offering, it’s always in the conversation to expand and integrate that technology into additional profiles. The immediate adoption, success, and performance gains we saw from VENTUS TR Blue led us to enhance the line with additional profiles,” says Spencer Reynolds, Fujikura Product and Brand Manager. “Expanding VENTUS TR offerings provides fitters more options in the VENTUS line to fit, and ultimately help a wider range of players improve the performance of their drivers and fairway woods. With six VENTUS profiles available with varying performance characteristics, the VENTUS line is truly firing on all cylinders.”

Launched in 2019, VENTUS has quickly become Fujikura’s best-selling shaft line. VENTUS was the most played driver and wood shaft during the 2020/21 PGA Tour Season and continues to be the most played in the 2021/22 season. In its first year on global Tours, VENTUS TR Blue has already been used by players in drivers and fairways to rack up an impressive resume of wins including The PLAYERS Championship, The Open Championship, The Senior Open Championship and multiple wins on the DP World Tour. The current No. 2 ranked player in the world uses TR Blue in both his driver and 3 wood.

Driven by feedback from the best players in the world and validated through enso® testing and analytics, VENTUS TR establishes the new benchmark for shaft stability and consistency. VENTUS TR Red and Black will be available at retail from August 2022 through 600+ authorized Fujikura Charter Dealers and select OEM custom programs. Both TR Red and Black are available in a wide variety of weights and flexes across all profiles; TR Red (R2-X flex, 59 grams – 89 grams), TR Black (S-X flex, 59 grams – 89 grams).

Update on the Ben Hogan Golf Equipment Company

MIAMI, FL – Perry Ellis International, Inc. (“PEI”), as owner of the Ben Hogan® brand, acknowledges the closure of the Ben Hogan Golf Equipment Company (“Licensee”) – the entity which licensed the Ben Hogan® brand for golf clubs and accessories. Due to economic challenges and the impact of the pandemic, the Licensee did not have the resources to support their equipment production. Although PEI, in conjunction with the Licensee, engaged in attempts to find alternative sources of capital to fund the business, those efforts were ultimately unsuccessful.

“We are grateful for our partnership with the Ben Hogan Golf Equipment Company, which had a premier reputation known for producing performance, quality and technologically advanced golf clubs and accessories,” stated George Feldenkreis, Chairman and Founder of PEI. “We kindly request your patience, as we seek a new licensee for this golf equipment product category. We are already exploring options for a new club-manufacturing partner while exploring the current market for future opportunities. I would also like to assure you that this decision has no impact on existing apparel products or other golf brands produced by Perry Ellis International or our other licensees.”

“We believe in the Ben Hogan® brand, and with sound conviction we will conduct business as usual,” said Oscar Feldenkreis CEO and President of PEI. “The balance of the Ben Hogan® business in apparel continues to grow in consumer appeal while flourishing and remaining one of the most successful and recognizable brands within our golf portfolio and retail distribution. This is in tribute to one of the world’s most legendary professional golfers known both for his iconic impact on the sport, as well as being such an inspirational talent – Ben Hogan, The Hawk.”
