Mizuno Release Special Edition Black Ion Mizuno Pro 225 Irons

PEACHTREE CORNERS, GA – Mizuno, the Japanese manufacturer renowned for crafting the finest and most versatile forged irons, has announced that its Black ION Mizuno Pro 225 irons, showcased in January at the Orlando golf show, will be available globally from April 2023.

A Black ION plating with a striking, lights-out look will match the special edition Mizuno Pro 225 irons with its hybrid cousin, the Mizuno Pro Fli-Hi. The irons will initially be available as standard sets in either 4-GW, 4-PW and 5-GW and with Dynamic Gold 105 Black Onyx S300 shafts (US only) and 4-PW with KBS S-Taper Lite black for EMEA. Australia will offer the special edition in 4-PW with custom options.

The Special Edition Black ION Mizuno Pro 225 Irons will be available from 13th April in the USA and Australia and in the EMEA region from 19th June.

  • The Mizuno Pro 225 represents the second generation of Mizuno’s staggering Hot Metal Blade and is the most playable of the Mizuno Pro series. It’s more compact than the original with a revised CORTECH multi-thickness face for even quicker ball speeds.
  • The Hot Metal Blade design features Grain Flow Forged 4135 Chromoly in the face and neck in the 2-8 iron – consistently 0.2mm thinner across the face. This combines with a COR Forged Hollow Body and 28.5g Tungsten weight in the 2-7 iron to produce a higher, more stable flight and enhanced ball speed.
  • In the 9-PW, 1025E Pure Select Mild Carbon Steel is used with stabilizing back weight for greater precision and a more penetrating flight. The Pro 225 is equally effective as a long / mid-iron alternative for elite players or a complete set for low to mid handicaps. The irons are Grain Flow Forged in Hiroshima, Japan, with a soft copper underlay for a uniquely satisfying Mizuno sensation at impact.

“The original Hot Metal Blade was the extension of our hybrid iron technology into a full bladed look set. The new Mizuno Pro 225 pushes the profile and size deeper in the realms of the tour – but commits more fully to the pursuit of ball speed,” says David Llewellyn.

The Sea Pines Resort Gives Golfers the Tour-Pro Experience

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC – A new champion—Matt Fitzpatrick—has been crowned in the 2023 RBC Heritage Presented by Boeing, played at the world-famous Harbour Town Golf Links. Fitzpatrick, who bested 2022 defending champion Jordan Spieth in a three-hole play-off, is a long-time visitor to Hilton Head Island and relished this victory.

Now, the island’s great courses at The Sea Pines Resort are ready to challenge golfers.

Take it from the pros: There’s no better way to tee it up and stay in style than with the Inn or Villa golf packages offered by The Sea Pines Resort – which includes taking their own shot at Harbour Town.

The golf packages include one round of golf per guest on the island’s three top-ranked courses: Harbour Town and Heron Point, both designed by Pete Dye, as well as Atlantic Dunes, designed by Davis Love III, a five-time RBC Heritage winner and the 2023 honorary tournament chairman. True diehards can enjoy complimentary afternoon replays on Heron Point and Atlantic Dunes (cart fee not included).

Accommodations range from the island’s premier hotel, The Inn & Club at Harbour Town, as well as luxurious private homes, Beach Villas, and Golf Villas of virtually every shape and size, with room for 2 to 12.

The Inn & Club is a Forbes Four-Star, AAA Four-Diamond boutique hotel with the luxury and convenience of guest rooms and a Fairway Suite overlooking the first tee of Harbour Town Golf Links. The Inn is ranked among the “Best Hotels in the USA” by U.S. World & News Report.

Three-night/three round packages start at $355 (per player/per night) for Villa accommodations. (Note: Harbour Town Golf Links requires one forecaddie per tee time. Forecaddie services are included in the rate, however a recommended gratuity of $40 per person is not included.)

*Villa Package rates are based on quadruple occupancy in a two-bedroom villa and does not include tax and fees.
