Cobra Golf® Introduces New DARKSPEED™ Metalwoods and Irons for 2024

New DARKSPEED™ Metalwoods Built With Advanced Aerodynamics for Out of This World Speed

Carlsbad, CA – COBRA Golf, a leader in golf club innovation, today introduced its new family of DARKSPEED drivers, fairways and hybrids. The DARKSPEED drivers feature groundbreaking aerodynamic shaping, a re-engineered PWR-BRIDGE™, and advanced A.I. designed PWRSHELL™ H.O.T. Face™ in three models – DARKSPEED LS, DARKSPEED X, and DARKSPEED MAX.

Each of the DARKSPEED drivers feature a unique aero shaping and tailored weight configuration to optimize performance for the target player for which they are designed. The DARKSPEED LS is aimed at the fastest swingers who need lower spin and more shot shaping control, and is designed with the highest rear skirt height, a higher crown peak, and a more compact address profile. Within the LS family, COBRA also offers an 8-degree model, which is an evolution of a long drive prototype head used by Kyle Berkshire. The 8-degree model features a visibly smaller and even more aerodynamic head shape, promising extreme speed for the most powerful players. The DARKSPEED X model, which is aimed at the widest range of players looking for a combination of exceptional ball speed and forgiveness, features a medium rear skirt height and streamlined shape. The DARKSPEED MAX, which is aimed at players who require the most forgiveness and/or a draw bias, features the lowest skirt height and the highest MOI of the three models. The ADVANCED AERO SHAPING found in all three drivers reduces drag and enables golfers of all abilities to achieve the fastest speed possible.

The adjustable weighting system in the DARKSPEED drivers allows golfers to tune their driver to adjust forgiveness, launch angle, and spin. The LS model features three weight ports that house two 3g weights and one 12g weight; two in the front and a third back weight position. The 12g weight can be placed in the heel or toe to fine-tune fade bias, or in the back to add spin and forgiveness. The X model features a back weight and a second front weight position allowing players to optimize ball flight. The MAX model features ports in the rear and heel of the sole. Players can position the 12g weight in the back for the highest MOI and forgiveness, or in the heel for the most draw bias.

A.I. designed PWR-BRIDGE Weighting features a suspended weight that is positioned lower and more forward, resulting in faster ball speed. A 13% larger PWRSHELL face insert with A.I. designed H.O.T. Face Technology maximizes speed across the hitting area. The face design is optimized using machine learning to increase ball speed efficiency and smash factor.

All three DARKSPEED drivers feature a MULTI-MATERIAL CHASSIS with LIGHTWEIGHT CARBON CROWN AND SOLE PLATES as well as a reinforced titanium frame to create optimal weight distribution and maximum stability. The carbon fiber crown is 30% thinner allowing more weight to be placed low and forward in the PWR-BRIDGE structure.

The new DARKSPEED driver family also feature COBRA’S MyFly® 8 with SmartPad® technology, which allows for exceptionally quick and easy loft and lie adjustability. The MyFly 8 adjustable loft system enables users to adjust loft up to +1 or -1 degrees. Designed to work in conjunction with MyFly8, SmartPad technology maintains a consistent face angle for each of the eight different sleeve settings, ensuring a square clubhead at address.

DARKSPEED Fairways and Hybrids

Complementing the innovative line of DARKSPEED drivers is a full lineup of fairway metals ($429 for LS, $329 for X and MAX). Utilizing PWR-BRIDGE weighting, PWRSHELL with H.O.T. FACE, and carbon fiber crown technologies as the DARKSPEED drivers, the new fairway metals are also available in three models to fit the full spectrum of players. All three DARKSPEED fairway metals feature MyFly8 Adjustable Loft Technology. Details of the three new models:

DARKSPEED LS Fairway – Designed for players with faster swing speeds, the new LS features a space-grade Titanium body and Titanium PWRSHELL H.O.T. FACE Titanium was utilized by COBRA engineers to save more discretionary weight and reposition it lower and forward in the head. This combination of PWR-BRIDGE technology and 68g of tungsten weighting moves the CG lower and forward for maximum ball speed and distance. A lightweight carbon crown also functions to save weight in the upper portion of the clubhead, yielding a CG location that is 3.2mm lower to the ground than in the previous model. Like the LS driver, the DARKSPEED LS fairway metal features an adjustable weighting system with two 15g weights in the front and a single 3g weight in the back for trajectory and spin tuning. The DARKSPEED LS fairway is offered with the UST Mamiya LIN-Q M40X White 70g shaft in S and X flex, and a Lamkin Crossline grip. Loft offerings include a brand new stronger lofted 3+ model with a nominal loft of 13o (adjustable between 11.5o and 14.5o), a 3W with a nominal loft of 14.5o (adjustable between 13.0 o and 16.0o), and a 5W with a nominal loft of 17.5o (adjustable between 16.0o and 19.0o).

DARKSPEED X Fairway – The DARKSPEED X model is designed for players looking for a balance of easy launch, forgiveness, and distance. An 8g fixed weight is positioned in the rear of the sole for added forgiveness and high launch, while PWR-BRIDGE and PWRSHELL H.O.T. FACE Technology provide faster ball speed through a low, forward CG location. A lightweight carbon crown further contributes to the low CG by removing weight from the upper portion of the clubhead. The DARKSPEED X fairway is offered with a choice of UST Mamiya LIN-Q M40X Blue shaft in R, S, and X flexes. Loft offerings include 15o (3W), adjustable from 13.5o to 16.5o, 18o (5W) adjustable from 16.5o to 19.5o, and 21o (7W) adjustable from 19.5o to 22.5o.

DARKSPEED MAX Fairway – The most forgiving fairway metal in the lineup is designed for players that desire a high, draw-biased ball flight. Like the MAX driver, the fairway metal features an adjustable weight system with 12g and 3g weights positioned in the back and the heel of the sole to fine tune forgiveness and flight. PWR-BRIDGE weighting and PWRSHELL H.O.T. FACE Technology deliver the fastest ball speed possible using low and forward weighting and an optimized variable thickness face design, while a carbon crown helps lower the CG location for higher launch. Shaft choices include UST Mamiya LIN-Q M40X Red in A, R, and S flex. Loft offerings include 15.5 o (3W) adjustable from 14o to 17o, 18.5o (5W) adjustable from 17 o to 20o, and 21.5o (7W) adjustable from 20o to 23o.

The DARKSPEED MAX is also available in a women’s model in 18.5o (3W), adjustable between 17.0 to 20.0, 21.5o (5W), adjustable between 20.0 to 23.0, and 24.5o (7W), adjustable between 23.0 to 26.0. The women’s model comes in a special gloss black finish with cool blue color accents and is equipped with a UST Helium Nanocore shaft in Ladies flex.

New DARKSPEED™ Variable and One Length Irons Designed for Unparalleled Distance and Feel

COBRA Golf, a leader in golf club innovation, today introduced the new DARKSPEED Irons, designed to provide the ultimate combination of speed, distance, and feel. The new irons feature an all-new hollow body construction filled with feel enhancing foam, as well as re-engineered PWR-BRIDGE™ and PWRSHELL™ technologies to create COBRA’s longest, best feeling game improvement iron to date.

Taking cues from metalwood designs, a new hollow body construction creates a thinner and more responsive clubhead structure that unlocks up to 25% more face flection for faster ball speeds and longer distance. To achieve enhanced sound and feel, the hollow body of the new DARKSPEED irons is injected with foam microspheres, which expand to fill the internal cavity. Once injected the foam supports the PWR-BRIDGE weight while also providing vibration-dampening properties for a soft feel and pleasing sound. For optimized performance through the set, the DARKSPEED irons feature a progressive TECFLO™ construction that transitions from a full hollow design with PWR-BRIDGE and PWRSHELL in the 4-7 irons, to full hollow body with no face insert in the 8-PW, to a half hollow design in the GW-SW.

The innovative PWR-BRIDGE weight in the new DARKSPEED irons is suspended on a small singular post, allowing it to be almost completely free floating within the hollow clubhead. This performance enhancing design positions the CG low for optimal launch while creating an improved face and sole that helps increase ball speed and launch. In addition, the DARKSPEED irons feature a thinner (1.6mm) and 21% larger PWRSHELL H.O.T. Face™ (Highly Optimized Topology) insert that takes ball speed to the next level. An L-Cup construction also boasts a new and improved H.O.T. Face pattern, designed using A.I., for a faster and more efficient clubface. H.O.T. Face was designed to produce the optimal variable thickness pattern for a larger sweet spot and improved speed on both center and off-center hits.

The new DARKSPEED Irons are available in both Variable and ONE Length options, allowing players to choose between a traditional setup or a ONE Length configuration. The DARKSPEED Variable Length irons are available in a 4-PW set composition (RH Steel Stiff and Reg – $999) or 5-GW (RH/LH; Steel Stiff – $999), as well as a graphite combo set in 5H, 6-GW (RH/LH; Graphite Reg and Lite – $1099). Each steel option comes standard with premium aftermarket KBS® Tour Lite 105g shafts (reg & stiff) and Lamkin® Crossline grips. The stock graphite offering is an aftermarket KBS® PGI (85 – Stiff flex; 75 – Regular flex; 65 – Lite flex, 55 in Ladies flex). A DARKSPEED Women’s graphite combo set is also available (RH only; $1099), and features a set makeup of 5H, 6H, 7-PW, SW.

COBRA DARKSPEED ONE Length irons offer the same distance enhancing technologies as the variable length irons as well as added consistency and accuracy due to the ONE Length setup. Each iron is built to 7-iron length (37.25”) to encourage a repeatable setup and swing. To ensure that the long irons perform optimally at a shorter length, the ONE Length DARKSPEED irons feature wider soles and slightly weaker lofts in the 4-6 irons to promote higher trajectory shots. The DARKSPEED ONE Length irons are available in 5-GW in graphite (RH Reg – $1099, graphite Stiff, Lite and LH custom order only) and in steel (RH Stiff & Reg – $999). Each steel option comes standard with premium aftermarket KBS Tour Lite 105g shafts (reg & stiff) and Lamkin Crossline grips. The stock graphite offering is an aftermarket KBS PGI (85 – Stiff flex; 75 – Regular flex; 65 – Lite flex).

Hey Mike! I love your post and I was just wondering if the dark speed LS is good for me. my ball speed is around 115 to 120ish, I am a righty and hook it far left, but the main reason I am considering this is because with TSI1, it tends to rise and become more uncontrollable as my speed goes up; my rpms are also @4300.
