Biggest Golf Tournaments in 2023
2023 has already begun with a lot of golf activity around the world with the PGA Tour and the LIV Golf series, the league sponsored by a Saudi fund, who announced a tournament schedule for this year. But there is even more to come in this season.
Golf fans will have a lot to choose from to wager on their favorites, regardless of the association to which they belong, since the best golfers in the world will be on both circuits. Here we present the golf tournaments in 2023 that you can’t miss.
The Masters Tournament
Also known as the Augusta Masters, The Masters is one of the majors in the men’s golf calendar. In its 2023 edition, it was played during the first days of April on 6, 7, 8 and 9, respectively. Following the results, Jon Rahm from Spain finished top of the leaderboard at the 87th position of the final event.
It is no wonder that most sportsbooks show Rahm as the favorite at +650 odds for next year of the Masters, although Rory McIlroy, Cameron Smith and Justin Thomas followed very closely by him. For this part, golf odds (coefficient) follow the same format as MLB odds do. There are American, decimal, and fraction for everyone’s convenience. Also, these two types of sports share similarities in terms of payouts and accumulation of points.
Chevron Championship
This is one of the top five professional female’s golf championships. It is an event of the LPGA Tour and takes place at The Club at Carlton in Houston, Texas from April 17 to 23.
The remaining Major women’s contests are the following:
- The Amundi Evian Championship (July 27 to 30 at the Evian Resort Golf Club, France)
- AIG Women’s Open (August 10 to 13 at Walton Heath Golf Club, England).
US Open
This tournament is organized by the United States of America Golf Association and is also another of the golf competitions that golf fans from all over the world enjoy the most.
The 2023 edition will take place in mid-June at Los Angeles Country Club, so all fans who are lucky enough to be able to see it in person will have the opportunity to enjoy the pleasant warmth of California. More renovation work has been carried out on the field to prepare for the 2023 tournament, including the construction of a new 15th hole of part 3, then playing as the 17th hole during the contest.
The favorite of the specialists is Rory Mcilroy without a doubt, although on the list of candidates to win the victory are Scottie Scheffler, Justin Thomas and Jon Rahm.
The Ryder Cup
The Ryder Cup will, as always, bring together players from the EU and the US. The 2023 event will be held in Rome, Italy, between the last week of September and the first of October.
Once again this tournament will give us the satisfaction of seeing some of the best golfers in the world face each other, this time with Rome, the Eternal City, as an incomparable setting for this competition.
From the US we will have Zach Johnson as captain, and in Europe we will find Luke Donald. It is worth noting that Henrik Stenson had also confirmed his captaincy in the EU organization, but later in time he was left out of the contest, having switched to the Invitational LIV.
LIV Golf Singapore
The tournament is a part of the LIV International series and the second one will take place on April 28-30 at the Sentosa Golf Club, Singapore. The club has previously hosted the Singapore Open, which includes previous champions such as Ian Poulter and Sergio García of LIV. Through Sentosa’s commitment to sustainability, the club committed to being carbon neutral by the end of 2022, making it the first golf club to join the UN Sports Climate Action Initiative.
LIV Golf Valderrama
Another event from the LIV International series that will be hosted for three days starting from June 30 at the well-renowned Real Club Valderrama, Sotogrande, Cádiz in Spain. The latter is no stranger to professional golf events, since Valderrama hosted the Ryder Cup in 1997 and two WGCs contests in 1999 and 2000, respectively.
Moreover, both the Andalusia Masters and Volvo Masters of the DP World Tour took place at the arena in question. LIV golfers Graeme McDowell and Sergio García have previously won in Valderrama. As a result, they are heavily favored for the upcoming event in June.
PGA Championship
Last but not least, the PGA Championship as always takes place in the USA. This golf contest is typically held during the month of May and throughout its history it has known many courses in the United States.
The 2023 PGA champion will be invited to play the other three “majors” for the next five years. It will also be automatically classified for life for future events of this series. PGA is also part of the four most important men’s golf championships, along with the US Open, the Golf Open and the Masters, mentioned previously in this list.
