50 Word or Less
Classic designs โ Anser, Bullseye, Zebra, and more – get the Nike Method treatment.ย An artful merging of old and new.ย A model to fit every stroke.
Introduction
Looking at the products theyโve released lately, youโd think that Nikeโs R&D consists of listening very carefully to the folks who populate golf equipment sites across the internet.ย Their VR Forged Pro Combo iron set combined great looks, precise short irons, and forgiving long irons; all the things the equipment โintelligentsiaโ love.ย Now theyโve released the Method Mod putters: flat sticks that merge their best technology with classic designs.
If Nike keeps this up, the forum goers are going to nothing left to complain about.
Looks
The Method Mod line is all about the merging of classic and modern, and thatโs evident from the expertly assembled aesthetics.ย At address, theses putters are totally classic: clean lines, simple alignment aids, and a low glare finish on the 303 stainless steel.ย When you pick the putter up, you get a hefty dose of the modern: Method face, removable weights, slick sole engravings, and a red insert near the sole.ย Itโs basically a love letter to equipment snobs, โHereโs all the โvisible technologyโ you drool over, but without a single distraction at address.โ
Of course, being Nike, they didnโt stop with the putter head.ย The shaft band is decidedly old school: simple black with a silver swoosh.ย The headcover sticks to a classic black and red color scheme with modern embroidery details.ย Finally, Nike went with a faux-wrap grip to bring home the classic look.
Sound & Feel
I donโt want to bury the lead, so Iโll say it up front: this is the best feeling OEM putter of 2013.
For those that donโt know me, Iโm a big time putter snob.ย My personal collection consists of milled putters from the best makers in the game, and the Nike Method Mod holds its own against anything in my collection.ย The feel is soft but firm with just the slightest โtockโ at impact.ย Itโs quiet and buttery without being mushy.ย You get clear feedback without it ever being harsh.
If youโve been holding out on trying Nike putters because youโre a โfeelโ snob, itโs time to head to your local pro shop.
Performance
Since most of Nikeโs Method marketing focuses on the concept of putterโs ability to get the ball rolling end-over-end more quickly, the forgiveness benefits are often overlooked.ย By cutting a slot in the putter and replacing it with polymer, Nikeโs designers are able to move more weight to the perimeter of the putter which makes it more resistant to twisting.ย This forgiveness is obvious, particularly in the Method Mod 90 (Bullseye).ย If youโve putted with a traditional Bullseye, you know that missing the sweet spot means having the putter twist in your hands.ย Not so with the Method Mod: the only indication of a mishit was the sound.ย The result is that even mishit putts stay on line and get to the hole.
There are four different models in the Method Mod series, each one with a different number (00, 30, 60, and 90) based on the degrees of toe hang it has.ย This will allow each golfer to find a model that suits their personal stroke, whether thatโs a strong arc or a straighter path.
Though Iโve always been a bit of a skeptic about the value of technology in putters, Nike Method Mod series has left me seriously impressed.ย These putters are tremendous performers and could easily find their way into the bag.
Conclusion
From looks to feel to performance, the Nike Method Mod putters deliver.ย They have a truly distinct look that blends classic shapes with modern touches, and the feel is exceptional.ย Most importantly, the forgiveness that the Method technology puts into these classic designs makes them stand out performers.
Price and Specs
The Nike Method Mod putters retail for $299.
There are four models in the Method Mod family: the 00, 30, 60, and 90.ย The number denotes the degrees of toe hang the putter has.
Each model is available in right handed only.ย Lengths are customizable from 33โ-35โ, and the loft can be adjusted for 2ยฐ to -2ยฐ.ย

Okay, I’ll say it โฆ that Mod90 is a showstopper! Unbelievably good looking! I need to find somewhere here in Hawaii that stocks them.
I’d settle for somewhere that had any of the new Nike putters or irons in stock here. I have been itching to try these and the pro combos, no such luck yet :(
I love the look of this nike bullseye (or mod90). I haven’t seen these in the stores, cant wait to see how well I can aim it.
Good review. I bought the Mod 90. It seems slightly heavy. Can the weight be changed? Thanks
To my knowledge, you can’t remove weight from the head without doing something drastic. If you just want to lower the swing weight and make the head feel lighter, you could try adding a little weight to the butt of the club.
Best,
Matt
Hvad koster sรฅdan en Nike putter hvis jeg skal kรธbe en ny???
Venligst Jacob Bruun.
Jacob,
These putters are no longer available at retail. You would need to find one on eBay or a similar site.
