The Sun Mountain H2NO C-130 is a dedicated cart bag model in Sun Mountainโs fully-waterproof H2NO line.ย Sun Mountain knows how to make a high quality golf bag where every detail seems to be done perfectly.ย Having so few color choices is unfortunate, but this is a great bag for the riding golfer.
Introduction
Sun Mountain is probably the most popular name in golf bags for a good reason.ย They tend to just work.ย Clean styling, durability and all the features you need at a fair price has made them the gold standard when shopping for a golf bag.ย They straddle the line between basic and luxury bags.ย ย
The Sun Mountain H2NO C-130 Cart Bag marries their popular C-130 bag with fully waterproof upgrades.ย Adding these waterproof features bring the material sturdiness and price up on what is an otherwise medium-sized, medium-priced cart bag.ย Equipped with a 14-way divider, storage galore and a few extra goodies, this bag offers a lot to the cart riding golfer.ย
Looks
Golf bag design can be all over the place in terms of styling.ย Some brands lean into the loud, shouty visual language and others stick to simple color palettes.ย Sun Mountain tends to favor the mostly simple, clean looking products and this Sun Mountain H2NO C-130 Cart Bag is no exception.ย In fact, one of the very few gripes I have with this bag is that it only comes in two color choices.ย My tester was a gray and black combo with some red accents.ย The other offering for this model is all black.ย Even considering the minor graphical design printed on the pockets for some visual texture, both of these choices are safe but a bit uninspiring.ย ย
In terms of shape and looks, itโs a pretty standard golf bag.ย Since the Sun Mountain H2NO C-130 is a dedicated cart bag, thereโs no grab handle or shoulder strap on the back.ย Instead, there is a bit of a hump-back with a couple more storage pouches where they usually live.ย ย
The strap and handle have been relocated to the opposite side, complete with a shoulder strap loop to stow it cleanly when not being carried.ย Sun Mountain also included some rectangular traction panels to grip the cart strap.ย Otherwise it has pretty normal full-length large garment pockets on both sides since there is no need for a pad area for the hip/lower back as on a carry bag.ย The beefy rubberized plastic top handles splay out wide around the opening and give a bit of an industrial ruggedness.ย ย ย
The 14-way divider is lined with a soft-non abrasive mesh fabric in a matching light gray, and the extra large putter well in the same red color found elsewhere on the bag.ย All in all, the Sun Mountain H2NO C-130 Cart Bag plays it safe design-wise.ย It isnโt the kind of bag that anyone will buy on looks alone, but nobody would pass on it because they donโt like the looks of it either.ย [See Price / Buy]
Features
Storage galore is the first thing that comes to mind.ย The Sun Mountain H2NO C-130 Cart Bag isnโt big or bulky, so I was shocked the first time I loaded it up to use.ย Side by side with my usual golf bag, it seemed identical in size and perceived storage.ย However, when I got done transferring everything over, I realized I had only used about half of the available pocket space with the same gear that filled my usual bag completely.ย ย
The full-length garment pockets are enormous, and easily swallowed up the included rain hood, my 2-piece rain gear set, and a ยผ-zip all on one side, leaving another whole side for other gear.ย Thereโs no such thing as too much storage space, but I canโt imagine needing this amount on a regular basis.ย I feel itโs safe to say the Sun Mountain H2NO C-130 Cart Bag is plenty for just about anyone who isnโt going straight for a huge tour-style bag.ย
There is a soft-lined pocket on the side of the Sun Mountain H2NO C-130 Cart Bag for valuables, as well as one for a rangefinder.ย One of the small pouches on the side had a very useful lanyard with a plastic clip to secure car keys during the round and make them easy to find afterwards.ย ย
Thereโs hardly any wasted space.ย Every spot that could have a useful feature has one or more.ย There are multiple tiny pouches for tees or pencils, large towel rings on each side with integrated glove Velcro straps, and a cart-strap pass-through that loops through the exterior pockets.ย All are done well and are easy to use.ย
There are a handful of nylon loops to clip things to on either side and the lid of a few of the storage pouches have elastic loops to grab stuff, too.ย Every single item feels sturdy and well made from the main structure down to the pull tabs on the zippers.ย For better or worse, the Sun Mountain H2NO C-130 Cart Bag also features the largest insulated drink pocket I have ever seen, swallowing up my arm up to the elbow at a width of about 2 cans wide.ย
Performance
As soon as I began to load my gear and clubs into this bag, it was apparent it was well made.ย Everything felt solid, well thought out and sturdy.ย It gave me confidence that the Sun Mountain H2NO C-130 Cart Bag would last for a long time over many rounds of golf.ย ย
The 14-way divider on the Sun Mountain H2NO C-130 Cart Bag has full length fabric cells, and I had almost zero binding or rubbing as I removed and replaced my clubs during the round.ย All of the pockets were easily accessible mid-round without digging around or shifting the bag on the golf cart.ย Due to the very sturdy one-piece base, the bag stayed in place on the cart to the point where I never once thought about it – a testament to golf gear doing its job.ย ย
While I didnโt get a chance to play in a rainstorm while testing the Sun Mountain H2NO C-130 Cart Bag, I did douse it with a bucket of water for due diligence.ย The fabric and heavy duty waterproof zippers did their job and the bag just functioned the way it was designed to.ย I have no doubts about the waterproof claim Sun Mountain puts on this bag. Conclusion
Thereโs really nothing to complain about the Sun Mountain H2NO C-130 Cart Bag.ย It has plenty of usable storage, lots of clever built-in details and can handle any weather you can throw at it.ย The build quality is stout and feels like it is worth the price even if the non-flashy nature doesnโt shout luxury. When the forecast turns, the round doesn't have to. Built with Sun Mountain's trusted H2NO waterproof technology, the H2NO C-130 stands up to relentless rain, protecting your clubs, apparel, and valuables while delivering the exceptional organization, storage, and cart-friendly performance.
At no time using this bag on-course did I have any negatives pop up, and plenty of times it made me smile with clever details or usability in its design.ย I just kept thinking it was a really great golf bag that was a pleasure to use.
The added $75 over the standard C-130 makes me question how badly I would need the waterproofing upgrade.ย There are also ten times as many color choices on the standard model.ย This would solve my only real gripe and save 20% on the cost.ย However, golfers who regularly play in less than ideal conditions know who they are, and they have a terrific option in the Sun Mountain H2NO C-130 Cart Bag.ย ย
