Oxford Fall 2017 Apparel Review

50 Words or Less

A true men’s apparel brand that stretches beyond golf, Oxford utilizes quality materials and a sharp style to bring you comfort and performance.

Introduction

If you read my Oxford Summer 2017 review, you may recall how much I was looking forward to the fall collection that I previewed at the PGA Merchandise show (oh, and thank you for reading).  Beyond what I remembered, Oxford also released some wonderful surprises like the Woodruff 5 Pocket pants and the navy Chukka Sneakers.  Altogether, Oxford encompasses a complete men’s apparel brand that can provide performance on the course and comfortable fashion off.

Performance

Oxford seems to truly understand performance when it comes to golf apparel.  The Dowling Polo is constructed of 92% COOLMAX polyester, one of the world’s best fibers for moisture management, and 8% spandex for stretch.  The fabric is a wonderful weight that is great on its own or when worn under the lightweight Candler V-neck Sweater.  The latter a blend of 60% cotton and 40% COOLMAX that offers warmth without restriction.

The Windsor Performance Pant is the long legged version of the Vickery shorts that I’ve been enjoying all summer.  The 95/5 poly/spandex blend fabric is lightweight and moisture wicking.  Sometimes pants feel cumbersome golfing, but that never crossed my mind with these – even when squatting to read a putt.  And don’t worry about your shirt coming out in that squat, the Oxford script in the waistband has gription.

Style & Fit

The Oxford Fall 2017 Collection has a clean, timeless style that still feels current with trendy colors and modern fabrics.  The style is consistent across the line and all the pieces work together – great for the guy who might have some clothing coordination issues.  For versatility, the Inman Reversible Crewneck is comfortable on its own, over a t-shirt, or paired with a sport shirt.  The Howell Performance Buttondown shirt comes in several patterns and colors, feels great and, maybe most important, comes out of the dryer ready to be seen.  And if the high top sneakers aren’t your style, Oxford has a wide variety of loafers.

The sizing on the Chukka Sneakers was spot on and the insole is oh so comfortable.  The Dowling Polo has a relaxed fit that stops well short of being baggy.  I found a similar comfortable fit in the sport shirt whose sleeve length was perfect for me as was the placement of the second button down from the collar.

Both pairs of pants had a generous waist (go with your normal size) and regular cut through the thighs down to the ankles.  I had mixed results with length.  I’m an awkward 31” inseam and went with 32” because only even sizes are offered.  The Windsor Performance Pants were about an inch too long and I’d try 30” next time.  The 98% cotton, 5 Pocket Woodruff’s length was perfect, and they’re going to get a lot of wear this fall and winter.

Conclusion

If I needed to keep one suitcase packed and ready for just about anything, I wouldn’t need much more than what you see in these pictures from Oxford.  The Fall 2017 Collection has everything a man needs short of underwear or a suit.  I could hit the links followed by dinner with old friends without any worry of being dressed appropriately.  You’ll look sharp and unpretentious with Oxford.
