PUMA GOLF’S AUTUMN WINTER 2015 COLLECTION FEATURES ALL NEW PWRWARM TECHNOLOGY
Apparel Designed For Temperature Regulation and Helping Golfers Achieve Peak Performance in Any Weather
CARLSBAD, Calif. (September 9, 2015) – PUMA Golf, a leader in golf apparel innovation, design and style, introduced the new Autumn Winter ’15 Collection featuring PWRWarm, a new technology engineered to help golfers maintain an optimum body temperature though any weather by providing lightweight warmth, breathability and freedom of movement.
PWRWarm, an innovative ceramic print that retains an individual’s body heat, is designed to create a warmer microclimate without the bulk or weight of traditional cold weather fabrics. The strategically placed adaptive materials are engineered to help golfers maintain an optimum body temperature without losing momentum on the course.
“The science behind heating and cooling your body has brought our focus to thermoregulation and optimizing body temperature to give golfers the best performance,” said Kristin Hinze, Head of Apparel at PUMA Golf. “When cold, people develop goose bumps, loss of motor control and sensory perception, which can trigger involuntary shivers to generate heat. People’s natural reaction to the cold hinders their performance, but PWRWarm regulates body temperature, helping golfers perform better when the temperature drops.”
“I need apparel that will diffuse all external elements and keep me focused on my round,” said Rickie Fowler, PGA TOUR star and PUMA Golf athlete. “I started wearing PWRWarm at the Scottish Open – when the temperature dropped and the weather was cold and windy, PWRWarm kept me warm and confortable, allowing me to concentrate on my game, and ultimately take home the trophy.”
The rest of the Autumn Winter ’15 collection for men boasts a unique blend of function and style incorporating novelty textures, patterns and is designed for maximum breathability, comfort and optimum performance no matter what the conditions. Other key technologies within the collection include Cleansport NXT finish, a bio-based treatment that uses natural enzymes to reduce odor-causing organic materials, Dri-Release moisture management to keep golfers dry and comfortable, and UPF treatment to provide protection from the sun.
This year on TOUR PUMA Golf staffers have been rocking apparel from the Autumn Winter ’15 Collection including PWRWARM pieces. The PWRWarm collection features 12 garments including a variety of layering pieces, sweaters and jackets ranging between $70-$120 USD. The Autumn Winter ’15 collection is available now at www.cobragolf.com/pumagolf and in select retailers.
Titleist Introduces New DT TruSoft Golf Ball
New Titleist DT Model Provides Truly Soft Feel on Every Shot, with Impressive Distance and Short-Game Playability
FAIRHAVEN, Mass. (Sept. 8, 2015) – Titleist, the #1 ball in golf, introduces the new DT TruSoft golf ball, precisely designed and manufactured to provide supremely soft feel on every shot with the exceptionally consistent performance and quality of Titleist.
For golfers who prefer a truly soft feel, the new Titleist DT TruSoft ($21.99 MAP) is the best performing golf ball in its class – a result of Titleist’s rigorous research and development and industry-leading manufacturing technologies. Made at Titleist Ball Plant 2 in New Bedford, Mass., DT TruSoft features a new core and cover formulation engineered by Titleist R&D to deliver incredibly soft compression feel with impressive distance and short game playability.
“DT TruSoft is the latest generation of Titleist’s soft compression core and cover technology. In each of our past three introductions of DT models, we have continued to provide golfers with softer and softer feel,” said Michael Mahoney, Director, Titleist Golf Ball Product Management. “Through our extensive testing with golfers, we know there is a growing interest for extremely soft feel, yet these golfers still want performance into and around the green. DT TruSoft represents the best combination of very soft feel and the all-around performance of distance and playability you expect from a Titleist golf ball.”
“DT TruSoft is significantly softer than DT SoLo, which was already the softest compression golf ball in our line,” Mahoney said, “and exceeds the performance of other products in this category as many of our competitors sacrifice either short game spin or distance.”
DT TruSoft TECHNOLOGY AND PERFORMANCE: DT TruSoft is designed with a fast, very low compression core and soft pure ionomer cover – the softest core construction and ionomer cover blend Titleist has ever used. The new core and cover work together to provide a uniquely soft feel and sound on every shot, while delivering very low spin in the long game for consistently long distance and reliable short game spin for playability into and around the green. A 376 tetrahedral dimple design ensures an aerodynamically consistent flight.
“This is the softest, best performing DT model we’ve ever made,” said Matt Hogge, Titleist Golf Ball R&D’s Director of Product Implementation. “We’ve balanced our core and cover combination to deliver a great feeling ball with performance on every type of shot. When it comes to making low compression golf balls, what’s often sacrificed is spin performance on shots into the green. Any shot to the green without sufficient spin will hit and release quickly, making it extremely difficult to stop the ball close to the hole or hold the green. There is clearly a point of diminishing returns. We’ve moved away from that trend with DT TruSoft by maintaining really good short game spin relative to those products.”
“We’ve learned a lot from our experience over the years with very low compression core technology, which we’ve used in the centers of our dual core products,” Hogge said. “We know how to make the formulations and manufacture them consistently, so that every DT TruSoft feels and performs the same every time you tee it up. We know that golfers depend on that consistency, from ball to ball and dozen to dozen.”
PRICE AND AVAILABILITY: Titleist DT TruSoft golf balls will be available in U.S. golf shops beginning Oct. 1, 2015, with a MAP of $21.99 ($30 MSRP). DT TruSoft models are available in White and Optic Yellow models with play numbers 1-4.
DT TruSoft replaces DT SoLo in the Titleist golf ball family while continuing the heritage of the longest-running Titleist microbrand – affectionately referred to by golfers over the years as the “Red Box” Titleist.
TaylorMade Golf Company Unveils PSi Irons
Blending form and function, PSi delivers on the demands of the better player
CARLSBAD, CALIF. (September 9, 2015) – TaylorMade Golf, the industry leader in iron innovation, has taken a new approach to the better player iron category with the introduction of the PSi™ and PSi Tour irons. Players have long been subjected to choosing an iron with either premium sound and feel or distance. With PSi, TaylorMade has found the perfect blend of form and function; an iron that delivers a rare balance of elegant design and superior feel combined with increased ball speed and distance. In doing so, TaylorMade has brought innovation to the better player iron category in a way that benefits those discerning players who seek the most out of their irons.
In designing TaylorMade’s most advanced players irons to date, engineers integrated the company’s new, proprietary Dynamic Feel System (DFS). Comprised of a HYBRAR™ blend compression damper and a multi-material cavity badge, this system works to reduce vibration across the face without sacrificing ball speed. Combined with redesigned head geometries, tungsten weighting in the long irons (3-5), and forged short irons (8-SW), the result is a truly dynamic approach to feel management in an iron that delivers on its promise for superior sound and feel throughout the set.
New to the PSi iron is a revolutionary new Speed Pocket – now a cut-thru slot that feeds directly into the cavity undercut. The Speed Pocket with the cut-thru slot yields more effective slot performance resulting in faster ball speeds for shots struck lower on the face. PSi also utilizes Face Slot Technology, a feature that debuted last year with the RSi series of irons. Face slots, located on the heel and toe of the clubface, protect ball speed and generate more consistent distance on shots struck off-center.
Consistent distance on shots across the face was a key deliverable in ensuring this iron met the demands of better players. Finally, an ultra-thin face (sub-2mm) contributes in supplying this compact iron with amazing distance. The 360° undercut expands the unsupported face area and lowers the CG to generate the optimal combination of speed, spin and launch angle, giving better players the trajectory they want and the distance they need.
The PSi irons also utilize a progressive spec package, ensuring each iron throughout the set delivers optimal performance. Blade length, topline thickness and offset increase progressively from the wedges down through the long irons, delivering golfers a confidence-inspiring, aesthetically appealing look at address.
“In creating the PSi, we wanted to make sure we understood the true needs of the better player before deciding how best to approach its design,” said Tomo Bystedt, Director of Iron Product Creation. “The total performance package had to meet or exceed the player’s expectation on look and feel while giving them performance they had never seen before. The consistency, workability and distance are something we think will be a revelation to all better players.”
PSi Tour
In addition to the PSi, TaylorMade also announced the PSi Tour iron, designed with input from and engineered for the best players in the world. Featuring forged 1025 Carbon steel and precision milled face slots and Speed Pocket, PSi Tour features a more compact head size and tour-inspired shaping and workability for the best of ball strikers. Additionally, PSi Tour has a thinner topline, less offset and narrower sole than the PSi and its progressive CG position allows for higher trajectory in the long irons while retaining optimum workability. The PSi Tour is expected to be TaylorMade’s #1 played iron model on the PGA TOUR in ’16.

Available at retail on November 6, PSi ($1099 steel; $1299 graphite) will be offered in 3-iron through PW with AW and SW also available.
