F4 Turbo Swing Trainer Review

F4 Turbo Swing Trainer (1)

50 Words or Less

The F4 Turbo Swing Trainer is an excellent warm up tool and it offers multiple tools for helping you build up club head speed.

Introduction

It seems that every other training aid out there promises to give you more club head speed.  The problem is that most of them only help you build speed in one way, plus very few are adjustable.

The F4 Turbo Swing Trainer solves both of those problems by offering adjustable weight and multiple methods of building up your club head speed.

Ease of Use & Set Up

If you can operate an umbrella, you can use the F4 Turbo.  All you need to do is push the fan up the shaft to expand it and create resistance.

The adjustable weights are similarly fool-proof: they screw in to the top of the club.

Effectiveness

Watch enough infomercials and you’ll see all kinds of different theories on how to build up club head speed: train heavier, train lighter, train faster, train slower.  I don’t claim to be an expert in biomechanics or kinesiology, so I don’t pretend to have the answer, but it makes sense to me that if you want to gain club head speed, you should attack the problem from multiple angles.  Why not train in all different ways?  The problem is, most trainers are only one thing – light or heavy – and just one weight.

The F4 Turbo is different because it offers multiple ways to train.  First, there’s wind resistance with the fans open.  If you want to add more resistance, you can add one to three weights at the tip.  Want more variety?  Try swinging it with the weights on and the fan closed.  Want to speed things up?  Close the fan, remove the weights, and swing away.  Again, I don’t claim to be a biomechanist and I can’t guarantee results, but I do think that the F4 Turbo gives you a better shot at gaining club head speed by giving you more ways to train.

Longevity

The F4 Turbo is well made and showed no signs of wear during the time I spent testing it.  I have no reason to believe it would not last through many seasons of regular use.

As to whether or not you will use it, the F4 Turbo is no different than a piece of gym equipment: if you have the desire, you will use it, if you don’t, you won’t.  The one thing that does work in favor of the F4 Turbo is that it folds down to fit into your golf bag, so you can always have it with you when you head to the course or range.

Value

You can find the F4 Turbo Swing Trainer online for approximately $50.  The additional weights cost about $10.  For $60, you’ll have a training aid that you can use for warming up and building strength.  If these are things that you’re interested in, you’ll be hard pressed to find a better value.

Conclusion

When it comes to golf clubs, we at PluggedInGolf.com always preach the value of custom fitting.  Similarly, when you’re looking to build up your swing speed, you should look for a swing trainer that you can customize to your body, not something that’s one-size-fits-all.  The F4 Turbo Swing Trainer is a very good warm up tool, and it’s unique in that it can be used in multiple ways to develop club head speed.

      DeJon,

It appears the original retailer is out of business. I’m not sure where to buy them now.
