Craftsman headcovers are a good quality cover with lots of stock choices as well as custom design options.

Introduction

The headcover’s purpose used to be protecting your cherished golf clubs.  Sure, people would have covers with a little bit of “pizazz” but they weren’t necessarily a massive fashion statement.  Over time came the stuffed animal headcover which allowed golfers to show a little more personality.  Of course, we mustn’t forget the Tiger Era where everyone had the Tiger/Frank headcover with the Thai embroidery.  These days, the headcover game has gotten serious and one of the latest contenders is Craftsman Golf.  Whether you’re looking for a unique stock cover or something more custom Craftsman has you covered.

Style

There are a wide variety of options for Craftsman headcovers ranging from basic to wild.  Where Craftsman’s execution excels most is in their classic leather headcovers like the ones pictured here.  If their stock options aren’t exactly what you’re looking for, you can contact them to do a custom design to get exactly the look you want.

Quality

I’ll just come right out and say it – I wasn’t sure what to expect in terms of quality.  Craftsman is a direct-to-consumer factory out of China which is something that typically comes with a certain set of (not great) expectations.  Rest assured, the quality of these headcovers was immediately noticeable, especially at their price point.  The materials are durable, and the stitching is tight and clean.  Simply put, these are real deal headcovers.

Pricing

Assessing the pricing of Craftsman headcovers is somewhat difficult for a couple of reasons.  For one of their stock wood cover designs, you’re looking at just shy of $40.  For what you’re getting, this is actually a great deal.  Where the pricing can creep up on you is that shipping to the US can cost up to $26.  Spread that out over a whole headcover set and your cost per cover isn’t bad, but for one or two, that raises the price point quite a bit.  Craftsman does offer free shipping via China Post, but from my experience, that could cause significant delays and may have lackluster tracking.

Craftsman’s custom headcover pricing is one of the more affordable options in its market.  For a set like the one in this review, you would be looking at approximately $65 per cover.  If you’re looking for something outside of their standard custom options, the world is your oyster.  That said, the pricing will be based on materials required and a minimum of 100 pieces.  With design and production all done in house, Craftsman is still able to make this option fairly affordable.

Conclusion

The headcover market has become more and more competitive in recent years.  Having so many options is a nice problem to have, but typically if you want something unique or custom, you’re paying a heavy price tag or getting a pile of trash.  Craftsman Golf provides a good quality option that doesn’t break the bank so you can spend more of your hard earned cash actually playing golf.
